AI Generated / Assisted Music

So I made a Suno Music style descriptor custom GPT a while back, and recently updated it for Suno 5.5, using both ChatGPT and Gemini's Deep Research capabilities to look up and compile all the known documentation into the GPT knowledge base. It can be used either by telling the GPT, I would like to create a track that sounds like "song x" by "artist z", in which case the GPT will give you the simple and verbose descriptions for Suno 5.5 to replicate that style, and if you give it the lyrics to your song it will rewrite it, slightly tweaking it for flow as well as tagging it with the new 5.5 "structure" tags used in the lyrics box for finer control.

Edit : I also forgot to mention - it doesn't only replicate the style of a particular song or band, but you can also tell it, as an example - "I want a reggae track with orchestral backing and a choir chanting", and it will give you the description and tags that tends to give you what you're looking for. You can also tell it, to reimagine certain songs, or mash up genres and so on and so forth too.

I've made the GPT accessible via the GPT store or direct link : https://chatgpt.com/g/g-DRYjAV3Xg-music-style-descriptor
It is what I sort of been doing but the manual hard way of manually setting it up. That said I still prefer my way, it keeps all the previous setup and with every new chat I setup some new standard rules only grunge only 4/4 and for this chat only. Since I experiment a lot I am not exactly sure how rigid your system is. But my setup basically give me the lyrical tag descriptors the tagged lyrics and then the description.

Had to manually setup it up through trial and error, i have also setup global rules unless I ask for specific effects it doesn't add them just gives me the default output. For the afrikaans I needed to setup the rules specifically for that chat language rules ect, ect.

You system works great I am not so sure it works well for tinker in me. Like setting up custom chats they way I get exact output I want, it follows then all the rules in that specific chat, really useful, if you want to use a specific style, voice or instrument. Actually discovered a couple of new lyric tags reverb, and then bloom, tail, delay, stutter. So It would be [reverb bloom] [pitch +2] for a specific line the while verse or chorus or word specific.

My system now it very much plug and play now minimal effort. Now I just have to describe the lyrics, what it is about give specific lyric direction and simply tell it give it dynamic range between verses and chorus make it female or male and it tags it without and issues. I have also added chords, previously I have added the chords in the description or top tags but recently changed to chords per line.

Yeah but it brings me to the next point of the assumption of all people use the same lazy approach to generating music, and sure there are folks that simply plop down some stuff and job done, it gives the folks that actually sit down and spend hours tweaking their input a bad name really.

Suno have really stepped up their game since model v4.5 it is much more of DAW experience now than previously, without all the nasty wires hanging out.

V5.5 already blew my mind with the micromanagement of the output already and the serious improvement to vocal processing. model 6 is going to be absolutely next level. You can already sort of do the same vocal processing to instruments that you can do with voices it is still sort of hit and miss. But I would love to see more processing of instruments. Something I found with grunge, metal or and electric guitar effect the range is pretty basic, and guitar feedback is hit and miss and when it does it is very mechanical it does a bit of overdrive, but still rigid.

Haven't really experimented too much on that front, but honestly it would be a nice touch to have better control of that. The other thing I would like to see guitar licks it is very generic at best, suno mostly avoids them. But something I need to experiment with some more as well.

Yep. Different strokes for different folks, this method has served me well and I realised with the 5.5 model there was a lot more control which was why I set out to gather as much info as I could, and build this knowledge base in ChatGPT, for that side of things to be a bit more automated. I think part of it works so well for me because ChatGPT also knows how I roll by now, so if I use this particular GPT and say I want the style for a rock song, a pop song, a ballad, or a soundtrack to a video I'm working on, or whatever I ask - it already knows my preferences so the output I get is generally spot on for what I envisioned. Admittedly, it's not always right, but some tweaking in Suno, or iterating or revising the ChatGPT prompt gets me where I want to be, hell, sometimes I'll even wing it manually from what I find online or on Youtube. Sometimes it's also just a matter of letting the AI go wild and accepting what it comes up with - which can be a pleasant surprise from time to time - both for Suno and ChatGPT.

yeah I just got my ass handed to me by suno with the last song I posted. this doesn't work for every song. I don't know why but had a gut feeling using a break beat is right for the song....and boy does that break beat carry. I don't think it would have been able to go as hard as it did without it.

My next experiment would be to see how I can control the lick if it will honor specific chords for the lick. But I am smiling all the way really.

But yeah that is why I like to tinker, your method probably wouldn't have worked for me and added something new I can add to songs.

I like that song but people don't seem to like it too much.
Cause kids listen to Britney Spears type crap.

Freaks is my favorite from that session. It is super catchy and unsettling

Gutter glory is the other song in that session, less weird, steady beat. Nice vocal range. Weirdly enough I asked asked chatgpt to consider the songs that will be the lead single and picked this one, it actually predicted which one would get the most airplay

Did a second session and it picked this one as the lead single

Rugged pull under
Same link, think you made a copy-paste error

But this is the better one, Shattered hearts club

Musical taste is varied to what people like, for some or other reason this has been getting steady airplay the last few days, I don't really consider it that great of song. the lyrics is pretty weak, the vocals are great, just when you think you have a decent song, nope you get stabbed in the back, it says nope we going to pick this one. lol

Yeah this one's been getting airplay because kids listen to Britney Spears type crap.

But yeah, that Smashing Pumpkins track is next level... actually almost brought tears to my eyes... Epic ****. If only the actual artist released this in full studio quality. It would be right next to "today".

Personally I hold disdain for music after 2010 ish, same repetitive shyte over again. Which is why I like grunge metal industrial, and dabble EDM styles.

Problem is EDM is all pretty generic, pretty hard to make something standout it is reliant of catchy hook or melody.

What I like about grunge, metal and industrial is has a set standard, but it isn't fixed you can add and mix styles.

Fever Bloom is grunge industrial with rap and break beat mix and if you do it well it sounds awesome and natural.

People like this style over straight grunge. It is catchy, isn't rigid and doesn't drag has beat pauses, makes it even go harder.
unintentionally has a linkin park vibe

Something I have discovered is I have picked up an uncanny ability and sense to have a feeling, for style, tempo, effects before even generating a song. It is pretty weird, it is second nature and automated at this point.

Yeah blown away.....you need to listen to the song to understand what effects I used here you will know exactly what it is when you hear it. Not going to spoil the fun, by giving it away yeah, just something I wanted to experiment with for a long time.. But imagine making an entire album like this.... Suno surprised me as usual.

Fun stuff, well done.

Yeah effect is natural and the end is perfect. If I didn't know any better I wouldn't have assumed it was recorded live. Was worried the crowd effect wouldn't match the style and song, but it absolutely blew it out of the water. Still not exactly perfect, I wanted that stadium droning bass effect. I quite like songs that end with bass drone, give it finality

Yeah it adds another dimension to overall feel. My abandoned shopping mall prompts were popular, and just added that final touch to a track. Some ( styles ) obviously work better than others though.

Drums and crowd top notch.

Yeah not happy with the drums working on a new track to see if I can push it even harder. the live stage effect this time without crowds.

Sadly didn't work with this one, just wanted the stage effect still a cool song seems to be still miss and hit. Drums is still not going hard enough for me.

The live crowd song is getting some likes at least.
I like this one (style ) much more !
