Reinstalled my system, xpsp3. Straight after tried to install office 2k7, failed less than quater way thru cz 'install could not write to protected system file'. Where's that vertical integration all developers talk about?

Anyone got a fix for this? Cant seem to find a log to see which file is giving the problem.

Right click "My Computer", click "Manage". In Event Viewer there should be an error message under Application or System, copy paste the contents...

Ey forgot event manager...

Product: Microsoft Software Update for Web Folders (English) 12 -- Error 1933. The Windows Installer service cannot update one or more protected Windows files. SFP Error: 3. List of protected files:\r\nc:\program files\common files\microsoft shared\web server extensions\40\bin\fp4autl.dll

Seems i need a windows update before it can install properly. Still, woulda been great if it worked out the box...

KB324500 describes this problem for office 2000 and Project 2000. The
solution
is... copy Fp4autl.dll from the cd to the "C :\Program
Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\40\Bin\" dir.

The Fp4autl.dll file is located inside the CDROOT\Rosebud.en-us\RbudLR.CAB.
To resolve this issue extract the file out of RbudLR.CAB and replace the file
located at C :\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server
Extensions\40\Bin\ and then reinstall office.

Shot it works:D

Seems i must up my google-micro, got the crappiest results bleh
