We have a neocool by alliance Aircon.. no original remote, so we got a universal one.. we found a code for it, didn't think to save it somewhere and a few weeks later my toddler got hold of the remote.. needless to say, the original code we had is gone now and we can't switch the Aircon on any more.. I should add, when we discovered the toddlers actions, we managed to find another code and this seemed to work okay.

However, the code no longer works.. we switch the Aircon on and it switches itself off immediately after..

Not sure what to check now...

have a look at the back of the remote casing if it has 2 little brass contacts ,thats your reset for the remote if it has it .if it still just turns on and off it may be low on gas .auto off pressure switch .

How often do you clean the airfilters? Your air filters for your central AC should be changed about once a month during the warm summer months. When the air filters get dirty, and choked with dust and dander, the airflow is restricted. This causes the evaporator coils to freeze, which can cause the AC unit to shut down prematurely.

Which American site did you get this from ?

Yeah, considering that the unit switches off immediately after I try to switch it on, as I stated, I doubt there is time for anything to freeze..

This particular universal remote doesn't have any contactors at the back.. did try the reset switch it has, no difference unfortunately..

Air cons need to be cleaned often. You will be surprised how quickly the air filter gets dirty. Give it a quick clean and try again.

Just confirmed, it is clean..

I believe what you said, but again the coils are hardly going to freeze within the 2 seconds it takes for it to switch off, after I switch it on..

Is there not a manual override on the Aircon itself to switch it on and adjust the temperature?

Yes, just a single button.. can't do anything other than switch it on or off though..

Just tried and using the manual override button to switch the Aircon on, works.. even some functions on the remote work but not all..

Seems it's related to the remote..

But I can't seem to find a code that works..

And damage the compressor requiring expensive repairs

Have you tried assigning the code to switch it on to a different button?
Maybe the previous button you assigned it to is not working

The remote doesn't work like that.. you set a single code to control all of the functions..

Three digit code or four digits?

Wifi Module is another option if you have USB.

Open up the panels of the aircon code should be there one would think.

Four digit code..

Haven't checked the labels for a code, would be great if one were there, but I have a feeling it won't be.. will look..

How can you check if compressor is damaged? I got my portable defy aircon repaired about seven months ago. Something yellow-green and oily was leaking. Had it fixed and was working fine then I noticed recently that the exhaust pipe was getting really hot and condensation had stopped dripping out the drainage hole. (The water coming out was permanent. Not a lot. )

Opened up the whole thing to have a look all the fans and vents are working, that everything was clean. I turned it on and it switched over to “aircon mode” after three mins, but then it doesn’t cool anything. The gas was redone during repairs too so it’s not that. Everything sounds and moves the same except no cold air coming out and no hot air being expelled. The compressor itself is very hot to the touch.

Jokes aside, if the remote doesn't have a reset switch then you can probably just take the batteries out and let it sit for a half hour to reset it.

I've got the remote and manual. it gives instructions for resetting but it never does anything.

if the compressor is hot then there is no gas gas keeps it cool or its not pumping properly .if its kicking out on thermal overload on the compressor and restarting when it cools down ,its probably cooked.pump is usually a rotary pump not serviceable .
