tell me something people

is back to back better for the aircon or is it fine to have the indoor like in the lounge at the front and the outdoor 50m away at the back

cos i heard back to back is best but for me at home back to back is difficult to do

The shorter your run, the less heat/cooling losses you will have.

There is probably a practical limit above which it will be ineffective and not recommended.

It can be done but you need to consider:
1) the longer pipes which just simply costs more and you begin to lose efficiency if it isn't done well with the appropriate insulation. So just a lot more cost
2) you gotta make a plan for the waste condensate water. In those situations you will need to install some kind of condensate pump to pump the water out and away

apparently you get small pumps to pump the water out

and yes the costs involved also

You don't have to mount the compressor to the wall, it can be placed on the ground too, assuming that the height difference is within the allowable limit of whichever aircon you get..

Also, each manufacturer should specify in the installation manual what the maximum length of the line set can be, I have seen this information for my air cons and it's typically only about 10m..

Some of the well known manufacturers have more commercial type units available that can support those lengths, but you will be paying plenty of money for those..
 
i wanted to mount on top of my garage but there might be noise or vibration thats the issue

but yeah best to get an installer out to advise i guess

Bright's has one available for R 6500 at the moment.. it's not a fancy brand name one, but it's quiet and works..

Anyone still paying attention to percentages from any retailer needs a slap. Ignore their "discount", and their prices are still decent...
 
Has anyone tried the "breezeless" types? Do they work as well as the normal ACs in larger rooms, 24000 BTU sizes?

Not sure of the bigger ones, but I have the 12000 BTU Midea one. It's in our bedroom, right above our bed. Works nicely in summer and winter.

Make sure they use the rubber suspension grommets. In my previous install they left them off and bolted the outdoor unit directly to the mounting brackets so there was a lekker hum when it was working
