Airfryers that aren't a Philips

That’s the nanny air fryer. Comes with a pre heat and turn halfway feature you can’t turn off. Avoid

Pre-heat is a great feature - if you put your food in for 10 minutes it’s 10 minutes at temp, no guessing.

Is an air fryer a fad or a useful appliance?
It is useful. But do not listen to all these clowns that knows nothing about cooking, telling you its the best thing ever.
The only thing that a air fryer can make arguably better or the same as your normal oven or stove is chicken pieces.
Air fryer is great for quick meals like all these little crumbed meat and veg things. It is also great for small meals if you are single or just 2 people. Or heating up some foods like pies and pizzas.
People and kids that does not know much about cooking, feel more comfortable with an air fryer. Our air fryer get used 90% by the kids,
I have this one (8L) and it is one of the biggest you will find. Works great, are cheap and you can fit proper size chickens etc in it. Think I have it for more than a year and it still works perfect, no rust, like some brands we shall not mention.

Shame. Yours still an ornament?

OH and let me tell you something else all these air fryer crazies will not tell you. An air fryer is a hassle to clean. There is a reason why you get all these paper inserts to try keep it clean or people using foil,

Bit of both really.

It's handy for small batch cooking but if your oven has a convection component then an air fryer essentially duplicates it.

It already gets up to temp pretty much instantly.
Do not listen to this one, he knows nothing.
Go to his favorite Philips airfryer website and look at all the recipes, yes the recipes on the Philips website and you will see they all say preheat and turn the food halfway

BS

The pan, basket or frying insert of your Philips Airfryer is dishwasher safe

Mrs Bosch cleans mine. Can’t even fit an oven rack in there.

Our gas stove has a convection oven yes. You reckon an air fryer will cook a whole chicken faster than a gas oven? We are off grid with solar so essentially cooking is free with an air fryer. Or so I'm thinking.

In my experience, speed wise at least, when cooking a whole chicken it's pretty close...

It's when you decide you'd like some roast potatoes, veg, and a nice gravy that the oven is the obvious choice.

Lol good luck with that.
I cook, a lot. Luck doesn't factor in. Anything with a cook time over 30 minutes doesn't require preheating when using convection.

Even with convection my oven takes 10 minutes to get up to temp.
EDIT - even if it is necessary, 10 min is a fairly basic amount of prep time anyway.

Anyone with feedback on this Instant Vortex Airfryer? @killerbyte I'm looking at getting my wife one for Christmas to save her some time and to save on the cost of gas which is becoming expensive. Importantly, can it cook an above average size farm chicken?

Had a philips for a few years, it broke and I bought the new vortex clear cook. Works great. I make stuff in the airfryer 1-2 times a week, food cooks the same biggest advantage from the Philips I had is the bigger basket and its easier to clean. But besides that, pretty similar in my experience.

Quite correct. Cooked a large chicken at 180 deg for 70 mins in a gas oven. This consumed 690g of gas, so if a 9kg refill costs R300, then this cost about R23,00

Our solar system will on a clear day produce 1700 watts at 230V. The air-fryer is rated at 1400 watts
