I had R105 available to transfer. I loaded another R275 but now it says I can only transfer R242. It seems I can only transfer half of what I load. Last month I could transfer nearly all my airtime. I need to buy a data bundle on another sim card but can't transfer all the airtime I need. I would either have to put my sim card into my modem and just not take any calls or use my phone and keep my data card as a souviner of faster broadband. Why did I buy the bloody thing?

What has Vodacom done? I am not a very happy customer right now.

Now I know what you are so "furious" about. Ek sit in dieselfde bootjie as jy.
I loved the idea that I could freely transfer airtime. In the past I was able to do just that, recharge R110 and send off to my dad/mom/family wherever they where. It was suppose to allow me to use my phone to directly load airtime to my main sim, and then transfer the airtime to my “data” sim in my usb modem..in my roof. No way hosay.

Enough $$ on my main sim to buy a bundle, but my new "data" sim had R0, and my amount that I was allowed to transfer was also just about half ( Cant remember ).

“…not take any calls or use my phone and keep my data card as a souviner…”

I resorted into using my main sim for data for now, great.

Yea, so if I want to check my Missed calls and Missed sms’s at his moment (I don’t have Huawei Companion Software yet, still need to check which ones I really need etc etc), I need to get out the ladder etc etc.

How much fun, hey?

On a side note though,
I get 1.15 Mbps download speeds with the modem in the roof at this moment! :D

Same on this side - I usually recharge and then transfer some airtime to my 2 kids but now it's not possible. Also seems like only half can be transferred. Don't know why VC is doing this ???

Yeah, it sucks. Got some airtime on a backup prepaid sim that I can't transfer over to my main sim.

Funny that this is only happening after I posted about how to load airtime and transfer it to another sim to buy data. And no feedback from Vodacom on this yet, seems like it's time to take it to the next level.

If I have to buy a bundle on my main sim I will leave Vodacom again this time for good and that's a promise.

Have you already emailed [email protected] to lodge a complaint about this?

BTW, it has been discussed at length before - I think most recently in the Cellular forum: [searchforum]Airtime Transfer[/searchforum]. IIRC the reason why Vodacom introduced the max 50% airtime transfer limit, had something to do with airtime transfer fraud that was happening at the time.

I don’t think this is happening because of your post. In the past I was not allowed to transfer airtime freely (back and forth and back and forth), usually only once or twice. And also when I was transferring airtime the maximum that I transferred was about R110. Now we are suddenly moving around (wanting to anyway) R250+. Maybe the limit was there the whole time, we just never reached it.
Just my 2c.

EDIT: Never refreshed before posting, so Didnt see ic's post.

Ic, the point is that there wasn't a 50% transfer limit last month when I transfered R289 to buy a bundle. I even transfered R29 to my other sims to be allowed to transfer all the airtime back and they didn't have the 50% transfer limit. This is only happening this month.

It is my airtime, I should be allowed to transfer it to my sim to buy a bundle. I will not load airtime on the other sim and give the points I earned to Vodacom. I will lodge a complaint with customer care as you said and if nothing happens I am taking this further.

I'm fairly sure that Vodacom would prefer that you spend money on the Vodacom network instead of throwing obstacles in your path, maybe there is another way to get the airtime transferred - v3g any suggestions? - maybe it can be done by a call centre agent...

It was brought up a while back, have a look through the threads in the search link I posted - it has been discussed before June 2007.

I know that this is the case but they are also not always the brightest bunch and may implement measures against what they consider "unnecessary" transfers.

I really can not find any reference to this 50% transfer limit even with my own search. FINALLY! found it. Searching for numbers is ussless. http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=62323.

As I said it was NOT the case last month. My transfer limit was always pushed up by the amount I loaded. This month is really the first time this is happening and I haven't transfered any airtime this month so can't see a limit applying here as ld13 has mentioned.

Remember we discussed it a while ago, think Ajax brought it up.

I'll ask what's going on.

Slightly OT: do you have to explicitly have airtime transfer enabled? Or maybe you need vodacom as your sp?

Friend of mine (on contract with autopage) tried to transfer but got the message 'you are not provisioned for this service'.

No. As a Prepaid user you [-]can[/-] could have used it freely without being provisioned for it. I'm not sure how Family Top-Up contracts work with this - if it is allowed on contract at all.

It's a normal contract, and from the website it appears that contract holders can do it. Just wondering if it needs to be VC SP contract.

[rant]BTW, yes I did mail customer care - but I don't like waiting hours for a reply only to be told to give them a phone number. If I email you, you email in reply. And I asked generic questions, so they shouldn't have to look up anything specific to that sim/contract. [/rant]

No, could always have transfered all my airtime, even back and forth a couple of times. I could even transfer my big bonus airtime which Vodacom said you can't. This is however the first time I checked after loading a voucher larger than R55.

It's a hybrid contract. I think you can only transfer what you loaded with vouchers. After doing a search last night I found out that my points are useless anyway so the problem appears to have sorted itself and there's no point in escalating this further, I'll just be using Virgin for a few days more than expected.
