Hi guys,

If I'm on a contract topup account - is it possible to transfer airtime to another number?

EG: Let's just say I have R2000 worth of airtime (never used) and I want to give it to my girlfriend, say R1500 - is this possible?

Vodacom? Yep, you need to phone them to activate the service though and there are limitations to the amount you are allowed to transfer, if any - but they refuse to even give me this info cause 'my' contract ain't in my name... :(

Just called 111 and activated on both my accounts;

1. On a normal contract, the amount gets added to your bill, so if I want to send R100, it just gets added to my total bill at the end of the month.
2. On a 'topup' type contract, you have to add airtime - so if you get allocated R150 (example) you can't transfer that amount but if you add a R55 voucher, you can transfer that - I think the guy mentioned that I can transfer up to 80% of the amount (80% of R55) to another number.
3. When doing the transfer, double and triple check the number you are sending it to - once it's sent, it's sent.

*111# and then option 2 for Vodacom Airtime Transfer

Thanks gdiza for the info. I enquired on the TopUp info a while back. As you said you can't transfer some of your initial "topup money" out. I don't use all the airtime I have, so wanted to send R100 to my sister, no you can't do that from the included money you have. I find that is just wrong - as I paid VC the money so I should be able to transfer it, is not like I am asking for cash back - I think Vodacom would rather you not transfer it and maybe loose it after 6months if you never use it in the rollover, than pass onto someone else thus they won't buy more direct.

Bit of a necro but I'm in the same situation with a fairly high balance on my topup i no longer use. Can you maybe buy data bundles with that money?

Yes you may. *111# and follow the promts. It will then deduct the value of the bundle from your balance.
