Hi all,
Busy copying all my cd's to wav. lossless via WMP12. It takes like forever cause of the high bit rate. I also want to back it up. Now the noob question:o How do I backup the album art as I do not want to redo this execise again?
Thanks.

I dunno... but I've always wondered why MS doesn't make each Album art unique to it's own album. It is a pain when moving stuff around when the album art wants to copy over each other. Surely that would have been common sense?

You might want to compress to FLAC which is lossless. For tagging and managing album art, use Musicbrainz Picard, it will download and embed the art off Amazon.com.

criminy wav. are you mad?
flac is okay, ape is better size-wise.

wmp12 is a dog. try find the equaliser... and they've taken away the advanced tag editor. i use mp3tag for batch tag operations. it works great, doesn't require an install and can fetch your artwork from amazon if you don't have any in the album folders.

in terms of album art, my preference is to embed the artwork in the file metadata in the default 'cover' slot. that way when you move the file, the artwork goes with it. most players that i've used are able to read this. the embedded jpeg does increase the audio file size, but i can live with 100k per file.

are you some kind of extreme audiophile? what's the issue with lossy compression?

mad...hope not:D
Audiophile...jip kind off, but the real reason is for me to have a backup of my extensive music collection. A lot of it is jazz and vocal. I do not want to skimp on quality and with hdd space not being a problem I am happy with the 200 plus gig it is going to use. I will compress the ones I want on my iphone etc further without losing the wav. files. I heard that wav. lossless together with Acc lossless are about the best to copy and archive music with?

I use Winamp, connects to Gracenote or something to auto tag all your Music Cd's
There is also an option to Download Album Art, it places the JPEG image in the Music Folder.

Works for me...
