Alfa Romeo GT

Would you suggest the maintenance plan from Alfa?
Its R42,000 for 3 years/60 000Km

Is this the ALFA CARE? I was also looking at it...but I thought it was more along the lines of R17000 hot damn R42000 Hell No!

Lemme see....

"The Alfa Care Vehicle Warranty is a comprehensive Mechanical Breakdown Warranty that covers the repair costs of a mechanical breakdown, covers components such as engine, transmission - manual vehicles, transmission - automatic vehicles & selespeed, drive shafts, clutch, suspension, management system, electrical components, air-conditioner, cambelt failure / timing chain and electronic key.

This cover is however subject to the terms and conditions of the Alfa Care Warranty.

The purchase of the Alfa Care Vehicle Warranty includes Alfa Care Vehicle Warranty Assist, a medical and roadside assistance programme, administered by Europ Assistance

Ok...your ONLY issue with NEWish Alfa's could be...based on how you use the car and how it was used before you and ust how the Guys at Turin put it together lol...Clutch and CamBelt...

A GT(same as GTA) clutch is R3200 incl VAT - Labour is about R1800...so there you sorted.

Cambelt replacement...parts including labour, oh, replace the waterpump as well and ask for a metal impellor it has a plastic one, which you KNOW will brake - R6200 all inclusive...

That's it...if yo get electronic issues 99% of the time its the Batery! The connections are PUTRID

So, get a R42 000 piece of mind...NO - try and work into the deal the cambelt service if its NOT been done yet...but at 46000km's it mustnt be done yet...80 000kms only...

So my friend, go sign that dotted line!

Oh...how does the clutch feel, rember this is performance vehicle, it WAS driven hard...feel the clutch for any uneveness...like hard then soft etc...it should be consistent...other than that...don't drive the car yet, leave that for last, 1st inspect and ask questions till you can't no more, then drive the car, coz if you drive it, you'll take it!

Hope this helps

Erm...didn't it come with a 100 000kms waranty?

Not sure about the 100 000Kms Warranty but I will check..

Remember that is R42,000 Maintenance plan (break-pads, whipers etc...) I only need to replace the tires and fuel...

Have you considered dropping that MOOLA into a Capitec savings account and earn 6% interest. Don't spend it on a maintanace contract...if something does break, at least you'll have the 'stuffed-away' R20-30k needed to fix whatever after a gazillion of different opinions...

Platinum motorplan is R10500...I will find out from who but my mates have it on their GT's and when stuff hits the preverbial fan...it sorts everything out...brake pads and stuff you'll replace once every 3 yrs or so depending on your driving and its not more than R2000 for fronts...wipers, lol, its less than R100 dude...that's a waste of good money
