All blacks vs Bokke - Fans

Especially in Cape Town, there are many All black supporters. I believe those 2 teams also do not play at newlands anymore.

Why do you support the All Blacks?
If not, why do you support the Bokke?

Patriotism? Politics? Best team (and then the team has changed drastically in the last 20 years)?
 
Look boys you can support who ever you want right, we all appreciate and respect them they play good Rugby. However If I was supporting another country above my own then I would feel that I should stop eating droe wors and biltong stop having a braai, never go to the bush veld or game reserve and go live on a island where its constantly cloudy and raining with a bunch of sheep annoying me.

It's just a sport.

How many people here support national soccer teams other than Bafana Bafana? Should they go live there too? Actually scratch that, most would.
 
I try and support the country in which I was born (South Africa), but as the years go by and the non-sporting related nonsense takes a tighter hold I find my support waning.

As for the All Blacks, I have a ton of respect for them as a rugby team and a nation and I ''support'' them when they are not playing the Boks or Wales (my ''second'' team).

I support the Boks because I'm a saffer.

You'll find that a large proportion of Coloureds support the Aussies or the All Blacks, mostly because they're stupid, but also because of in the Apartheid days they refused to support the white Springbok team. Hence why you'll here the same aforementioned idiots refer to the Boks as "Die Boere".

This group of racists procreated, and because in a Coloured household you do not disagree with the man of the house, their 20 year-old kids now also do not support the Boks.

Was at Newlands a few years ago to watch the Stormers vs Chiefs and the 'Cape Crusaders' were out in force in support. Fortunately, it was back in the day when the Stormers still knew how to play rugby and they gave the Chiefs a hiding. It was very satisfying...
 
Always been an All Blacks supporter (as long as I can remember), however it is alway country first, so when they go up against the Bokke, I support my country. the only other sport that I watch is cricket and then I support SA.
 
I'm a Springbok supporter even though they suck and South African rugby is seemingly on a downward spiral or has been for a while. I can't support the All Blacks. They are so amazing and brilliant and it's just annoying. I'd rather support the underdog. So for me I'll support any team that plays against the All Blacks... um except England.

I'm a South African and I support the South African rugby team.

What a brainfart statement to make. You can support any team you want as long as you respect other teams. We live in a modernized society and you have a right to support whoever and wherever you want.

Maybe if the Boks can start playing proper rugby then they will start supporting the Boks. Leave racism out of it please, let the new generation decide who they want to support.

Btainfart? Do you have any evidence to the contrary?

If you didn't know, I'm Colored and living on the Cape Flats and I'm currently watching the game with a bunch who are cheering on the All Blacks while ridiculing the Boks with comments like "Die boere sal nooit die swart gevaar wen nie"

Personally finding it very hard to support the boks these days. I just cannot get my head around a side that get's beaten 9/10 by another side and instead of changing it's game plan to match that of the winning side, sticks with it'sown, non winning ways. I am just gobsmacked at how stupid all those in charge actually are. Have they not seen records that we had, fall in rapid order by the way side? Beaten by Japan FFS.

These days I watch rugby for rugby's sake - personally I think the bok emblem should have been taken off these guys a while back. Make them the Proteas. Not trying to disrespect the players though - the problem is definitely with rugby management and coaches.
 
I've traditionally been a Bok fan, as well as a Protea fan, but not a Bafana fan.
So I dont think it is as simple as saying I am patriotic, I've just grown up loving the home teams for both Rugby and Cricket.
They might be going through a slump, but I still have their back. NZ is an excellent team, however it always just baffles me how many people support them this side of the ocean...
