So you need to get Indian firmware for that, right? If so, then I have no interest in this device either as it is just another one killed off by Android Pie.

It's literally a case of putting the official Indian update file on your device and updating via the update utility in the settings app. Language is chosen during setup. Download links readily available on Xda and OnePlus forums. Root not required.

If I remember correctly, OnePlus dropped support of one of their phones in under 2 years? Can't remember which one.

Well, my dad's old S5 got updates up until last year, so 4 years, that's more than long enough for most of us. LG on the other hand didn't even give 2 years on the G5...
So it's a mixed bag, and a lot of people got annoyed at flagships dropping old phones when Android introduced the must support native encryption thing, which e.g. LineageOS bypassed as they don't need Google's approval. My budget LG K10 for example had I think two security updates in its life, and due to a host of other things besides only the lack of updates, I refuse to buy another LG product (inc. TV). But that's a company problem, and not an Android problem.

OnePlus 3T only got the Nougat update, so one year of major OS support, I think they did update to Oreo on huge community backlash?

Easy solution: don't have an old OnePlus device. They're nearly half the price of conventional flagships. Sell your outgoing one and cough up the difference every 2 years.

OnePlus is a relatively small outfit. Customers implicitly accept that the compromises being made are well worth the cost savings for devices that arguably provide the best user experience available. Even MKBHD has largely used the OnePlus 6 and 6T as his daily driver throughout the last year.

Perfection doesn't exist. You just choose your compromises. And for me and millions of others, OnePlus hits the balance amazingly well.

OnePlus 6T is R11.5k...
They haven't been a "budget" flagship device in the last 2/3 gens and I doubt they will ever be that again.

Their price is garbage. I've imported 8 OnePlus devices in total - the most expensive was my OnePlus 6 at R7.8k for the 128GB model.

OnePlus 6T release date and price. The OnePlus 6T went on sale on November 6, 2018. Its price starts at $549 / £499 for the 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage in the Mirror Black color. The same storage and color but with 8GB of RAM will cost you $579 / £529.

The OnePlus 6 price starts at $529 (£469, Rs 34,999) for the 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage configuration, which is more expensive than the OnePlus 5T, which cost $499 (£449) for the same RAM and storage.

Then you have the 8GB/128GB variant at $579 (£519, Rs 39,999), which again is a $20/£20 increase over the 5T.

The exchange rate wasn't R14.40 when I bought mine. But yeah, it was my dad's 6GB OP6 that was R7.8k. Mine would have been higher. Takealot's pricing is based on what it cost them to bring in. They're almost guaranteed to have a crap price for the OP7 and to also take far too long to get them in.

I've been with OnePlus since the OnePlus One. Every single device came directly from OnePlus, and I see that staying the same in the future. I don't get why people need to be so squeamish about importing a phone. Delivery only takes around a week. 2-3 working days from OnePlus to a forwarding service or family member, and around 5 days DHL Express to your door.

OnePlus support their phones with OS upgrades for 2 years and security updates for 3 years. Also OnePlus has the biggest modding community on XDA, which basically means ROM updates well past the phones official support cycle.

Any help would be appreciated, I need to sort this call-recording problem on our Android9 phones. And I have to compile a report on it for my company, it is crucial to us. I would sincerely appreciate any help, sir.

You could probably get around it by routing through a VoIP solution that records server side.
Would be more costly though.

Dirk, there is no way around this, unfortunately. You will need to look at the various Android devices which has call recording dumped and do not offer native recording. There is a couple of devices that do support native recording and you will need to go with them. We have dropped Samsung and will not be buying them again when we need to renew our contracts. So far, I believe Xiaomi is one of the few devices that do offer native recording. Probably the best option to go with if you rely on it.
