Mercedes-Benz E-Class' absolute tech madness — including three screens and 21 speakers

Mercedes-Benz recently launched its latest E-Class model in South Africa, packing an impressive assortment of tech.

While it's common for many carmakers to fit their vehicles with tech features these days, the German carmaker has truly pulled out all the stops in this luxury sedan.

At first I thought you were just talking kàk and lived in a poor area. Then I went to go see what figures are - and perhaps you're on to something. SA market for Merc seems dismal. Compared to here in the UK Mercedes-Benz sold 568,400, vans and cars in just Q1 of this year.

I notice that they don't even mention the engine. Probably down to 999cc with turbo and battery.. So sad, mercedes used to have decent 3 litre v6 and 5 litre v8 motors.
So, get rid of the screens and put a proper motor in it for starters..

2 litre, inline 4, upto 376 BHP

A detuned A45 motor, I reckon they gave a lot of trouble at 428 BHP.. Nope, I would not buy such an expensive car with such a highly stressed motor.. Even at only 376 / 280kw

Probably 730 watts PMPO, so you could divide by 18 for typical RMS.. Mind you that's about 40 watts RMS which is still quite a lot for a car, would still blow your ears off.

A new C-Class Sedan is over a million. In 2014 a C-Class was closer to 450,000, or adjusted for inflation, R730,000. What do they expect?
