Ok, as a student, I really need to look for an internet option that fits into my budget. Unfortuntely, ADSL is out, leaving me with mobile as the only option.

But trying to find the right option is proving to be a challenge. I see this new Vodacom, 20GB for R499. However, this is on prepaid/topup, so I leads to question 1:

Is this a seperate sim card?

If yes:

Would I be able to put that sim in my BB and tether it to a PC instead of using a 3G modem (as I don't have one)?

Assesing my other options (8ta seems to be up top), would the same apply, using the sim in my phone? I know this is highly inconvinient, having to swap sim cards all the time, so what are my options of adding data bundles to my current VC Talk 120? Would these prices be remotely worth it? And would I then be able to tether my phone and use that databundle?

Thanks

I can't give you all answers, but if you have modernm Blackbery phone and it is H(D)SPA capable (for Cell-C it must also cover UMTS 900MHZ), you can use it as a modem in your PC.
Re: packages there is nothing from Vodacom, you must look Cell-C/8ta. As a VC contract customer you can be trapped into OOB charges, it is why SIM swapping is the only option.

Great, thats what I thought. Blackberry is modern (9700), so should do fine. Quite ridiculous with the OOB charges actually... Not very convenient

If swapping SIM is really the issue, then VC contract is no-go. I hear that 8ta give you a choise when your bundle runs out, so you can say no. With Cell-C it be be avoided too.
