Some meters also tend to stop spinning backwards above certain watts so make sure it is indeed spinning and if its not or very slowly try limit the feedback to 3000w as a test to see if that fixes it.
 
My understanding is that priority load will prioritise load over charging the battery. Is that correct? So this is the setup currently. We want to achieve the following:

Battery must be fully charged and stay fully charged until 23:00, using primarily PV, only grid when necessary (at night)

From 23:00 to 8:30 battery must discharge to a minimum of 30%,using grid to top up to 30% if necessary.

From 8:30 battery must be fully charged and stay fully charged until 23:00 again. This to allow the battery to charge mainly through PV with as little grid power usage as possible and cycling the battery properly everyday.

During the day once the battery is charged, non essential loads can be powered as needed. Extra energy to be exported to the grid.

So, are we achieving that with this setup?

Settings look correct yes.

Just some comments, if you have a meter that spins back your strategy should be different to most of us. You basically have a free battery in the grid that is close to 100% efficient in terms of storage. As every kWh you push back you can get back out again while there is no loadshedding.

So taking your batteries down to 30% at night is using up your cycles and degrading the battery when you could just rely on the grid for the same thing.

If it were me I would change all the SOC/v to 100% and untick grid charge on all of them as well as untick priorety load.

That way your battery is only used for loadshedding, your solar will keep the battery full then service loads and any excess will roll back the meter for later use.

Just a thought to confuse matters when you almost have things the way you want them.

Is it cloudy at the moment? You always need more power in than what the inverter is supplying, because the inverter itself uses power and there are conversion losses. In this image there is not enough PV to cover the loads and the losses of the inverter, so it needs a bit from the grid.

But the low PV could also be because hte batteries are at 100% and you are now just getting the PV you need to cover loads, in which case the amount coming from the grid is odd.

Also the Sunsynk Logger only updates once every couple of minutes. Check what is displayed on the inverter itself to get a realtime idea.

Do you have any non-essential loads?
 
Don't have a split DB. All is essential.
The Deye has two zero export options - zero export to load and zero export to CT. I found zero export to load works better, but I'm not sure what the Sunsynk equivalent would be.

Mine drifts as well and Ive seen that on some occasions. Tried to have a look if its doing it currently but aparrently there is loadshedding now.

My theory is that its either inefficiencies like mentioned above or the MPPT thats got some variance and thinks its pushing more solar than it is.

I agree with what @furpile said

What you can do to confirm how much power you are actually drawing:

On the page that you are checking your power usage:
Scroll a bit further down to the Energy Generation Graph and click Month.
Click on today and check what your import value is.
That will tell you how many kwh you have imported from grid.

Ive used 3.4kwh from City Power today.

Then next on the same energy Generation graph use the day tab.
Click on the legend items until only grid is selected.
This graph will show you when you are using power.

I had loadshedding from 22:00-00:30 which is why my grid spiked to charge the battery afer that loadshedding window.
I start running on battery from 2am to save some electricity and I allow it to run down to 50% until 7am.
From 7am until 5pm I allow it to run down to 30% before back to 100% for night time backup.
My geyser kicked in at 12 and draws 4kw. There are clouds over my house today so thats why the grid kept spiking until 2pm.
But all those lines equate to 3.4kwh

If you stare at it too long everything looks funny just let it do its thing for now.

I think you also have 2 batteries? They can take a little time to balance and there can be some odd things going on till then.
 
Kids are home, geyser and aircons running and loadshedding at 16:00.

No stress. Already exported over 36kWh for the day. I only have grid charge from 10pm to 2am to take my batteries to 75% which I've found works well for me and hardly ever needed. 1914350931.jpg
 
It's 125V for startup, 150V plus to start optimal production. I would go with what @furpile suggested, for minimum in series, use Vmp (under load), so 4 panels (4x41.96 = 167.8V).
To calculate maximum on an MPPT (500V), rather use VoC (because you will reach it under no-load conditions) so 9 panels (9x49.9=449.1V), which gives at least some room for temperatures under 25 degrees, and irradiance of over 1000W/m2.

The only problem is Isc which is 13.11, so expect clipping. It may be better to consider the 530 or 535W in the same series, it will then deliver full power of the panel.
Thank you for the feedback, really appreciated. I'm ok with some minimal clipping and understand the suggested 4 panel install. That's also would the installer suggested, but maybe 5 panels would then be the sweet spot.

No to await the quote and to convince the SO that we should go ahead.

i.e. as the sun wakes up, less grid will be used

Grid charge will use grid first and reduce the grid charge as the sun rises until the battery has reached the set SOC.

I just had mine installed with Amber Energy. It was also a recommendation on his forum. Very happy with their service. They are based in Irene
 
It seems Solar Assistant is the easiest way to get things going with the Deye inverters, tried my hand at integrating Home Assistant today, with not much success.
Wll worth the +/-R900 for those who bought the app ?

It's pretty decent and luckily it's a once off. Frequent updates to the software. The MQTT integration is seamless
