Check this ****. All dead - and fortunately none inside.

I suspect if I take the top panel off I'd see the same. I'm still finding 3-4 dead ants a day since the initial invasion.

Now I'm glad I home gym every morning in the garage :D I could imagine what cost I'd be in for if this was only found a week after they arrived.

This literally happened in under 12 hours - from zero ants.

Yeah would be nice if we could get our raw data from solarman and then i could just write an importer for solar assistant. Perhaps I should email them and see if they willing to dump the data.
 
Need some help with Solar Assistant please. Was working fine, then this morning there was a power failure (earth leakage tripped). Now since then I cannot access SA at all. It is not showing on the router that it is connecting to Wifi or Ethernet. Cannot see it on Bluetooth or over wifi. Have done multiple power cycles, no effect. When the power comes on there is just one green light (this is on a Pi Orange). Was looking for the SD card to try and reflash it, is it inside the housing? Any other way to completely reset it?

Same happened to me recently. The filesystem on my SD card was completely corrupted and I was unable to restore anything. I had to re-install to a brand new SD card.

The OrangePi version has video output, plug it into a monitor and see what get on screen.

SD cards are for prototyping, never for production. Use a small SSD and put it into an enclosure with a USB port. They are cheap enough these days and at least have bad sector mapping and recovery capability.

I think my SSD is on its wag out, gonna attempt to get an SSD working on the SA device. Anyone managed to do this?

Hooked it up to my display, this was the output. Does this mean the SD card corrupted?

This has been working for months, and I doubt anybody removed a card from it. So is it using on-board storage or do I need to add a micro SD card in there?

Oh huh. I'm assuming you bought yours directly from SA - they likely installed the software to the onboard flash storage (8GB).

I'm not exactly sure how to recover from that, I'd just email them and explain what happened.

Thanks, did send them a mail, waiting to hear back. But I did install onto an old micro SD card and it worked straight away. Probably should have gone with the power supply that connects directly to the batteries to prevent this type of shutdowns (earth leakage tripped). Working now, but might upgrade to an SSD in future. But now all my old data is gone from SA website... Have some of it in HA though.

In the beta version of SA they have added backup/restore functionality. I've been using it for a few weeks now and seems stable enough so I would probably recommend you request beta access just so you have access to that feature.

I have a standard Pi and I'm also considering moving to an SSD but only if there's details on how to migrate from an existing SD card install. It probably wouldn't hurt to just image the SD to an image file and try to write that to an SSD.

Oh and the battery cable is worth it. My Pi is powered from the battery itself. Bit pricey but it's worth the cost.

Yep, as long as the pi supports USB3.0. USB 2.0 can work too, but you may need to use 2x ports in parallel to overcome the 500mA limitation, depends on the juice reqs of your SSD.
Plus you need to do a little work on the install to get a pi bootable from USB, it's all documented though.

Also started getting this last week. Grid was on but was thinking it could be a phase dropping.
 
Was also wondering about the grid disconnect notifications, they seem to pop up at random and when I check there isn't anything to show that there wasn't power from the grid.
 
Will a Sunsynk inverter turn back on using PV if the battery is flat and there is no power from the grid?
Seems to be an outage for +15 hours now and the inverter is off.

Yes it will restart once the "Restart" percentage is reached set under Battery Settings. Also make sure the "Activate" option is ticked on the same screen, this helps to ensure trickle charge after a shutdown.
