Is anyone else’s sunsynk wifi data relay down? The dongle is green but the app isn’t updating
I saw this with my own eyes at a neighbours place just last week. I helped their cabler configure a new WAN device on the network and when it came to connecting the sunsynk dongle, it refused to connect. It connected to the LAN OK and got a green light but the message back said the server rejected it. We tried connecting via phone hotspot too but had the same issue, so we left it with a plan to fix it the next day. By the next day it was working again. I'm convinced they either have some logic that bans the new ISP for a period or their servers are simply congested.

I refuse to buy from companies who use ex vat prices. If they're happy to use illegal pricing, who knows where else they're bending rules/taking shortcuts.
What's illegal about it?
For VAT vendors (most formal businesses), that's the price you pay.

SA law requires that all prices be VAT inclusive. If the ex vat price is quoted, the vat incl price must be quoted at least equally prominently.

Also seems to be losing the correct time
Corrected it now for a second time
That does happen, they set the TZ to the wrong region. Your installer should tell them to correct it. In the meanwhile you can untick the box that makes the inverter use their NTP server.

It is times like this that I miss our old Victron system, SunSynk's system is as buggy as anything I have ever seen with drops in connection, missing data, weird data, etc. I have started largely ignoring the data shown in the web portal and relied on downloading the daily data to generate my own reports. Even that has bugs and now this morning there is no data at all for yesterday, nothing, nada, zilch, niks

Quick question. What should the grid mode be set to for Sunsynk inverters in South Africa? Below is what mine looks like at the moment.

I thankfully haven't had any issues with mine :fingers-crossed:

Maybe it's a firmware thing, I haven't touched my firmware since getting the inverter and will avoid this unless I'm forced to.

Pretty random behaviour for a firmware bug but I wouldn't have a clue to be honest  I posted on the SunSynk forum and SunSynk support just gave me the spiel about DB and Region moves that are currently in progress...

Dear Sunsynk Connect Users,

We are preparing to conduct essential maintenance in Region 2, which is scheduled to commence on Friday 13th October at 01:00 GMT. The primary objective of this maintenance is to migrate data from MongoDB Business Edition to MongoDB Enterprise Edition.

Purpose: Our transition from MongoDB Business to MongoDB Enterprise is motivated by our need to facilitate rapid scalability. MongoDB Business edition imposes constraints on storage and services, and we aspire to have the flexibility to expand as per our requirements. MongoDB Enterprise offers us the capability to incorporate multiple shards, allowing us to scale up as needed.

Steps Involved:

We will transition the application to the enterprise edition, ensuring that all new work data becomes accessible within minutes.

Subsequently, we will migrate data from the past 7 days to the enterprise edition. Please be advised that this process may take approximately 2 days to populate in your account.

Region 1 to Region 2 Migration Update: Our migration of data from Region 1 to Region 2 is currently planned for the 25th of October. The slight delay in this migration is attributed to our reliance on our service provider for the release of the MongoDB Enterprise edition. Prior to the migration, we will provide you with a further update.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this essential maintenance period.

Sincerely,
Sunsynk Support Team

What reason would you have to want to change it?
The ECSA engineer that inspected my installation for registration with CoCT noted that the grid mode is not set to what is used in South Africa. So, I wanted to check if anyone has it set differently.

230V out means your batteries last slightly longer, like 1%

Pretty much just the grid mode selection is in question. Should be something like NRS097...

So I will be adding an additional 8 505W panels (East) to my current system (current 8 panels are north facing). I'm using a new installer. They quoted R8K installation. That is R1k per panel. My current system has a PV Combiner Box 2 in- 2 out. Are they going to use this combiner box or should they use a separate one?
I will be asking them tomorrow though.

If you going to add to a separate PV (i.e. PV3) I think you will need a new Combiner Box from what I understand.

I stand to be corrected though.

I paid R850 per panel in July so R1k is not a bad rate.

What is a safe operating temperature for Deye inverters? I see mine is peaking close to 60 degrees on hot days.

I'm wondering if its worth putting a fan in the garage.

Have you got 5kw or 8kw?

I saw Deye support say 100 degrees C is still acceptable for the 5kw. I'd assume 8kw is the same.
