Easy way to check Neutral Earth bonding is to plug in one of those Ellie’s surge plugs with the three LEDs. Earth LED should never show up. If it’s on during load shedding then bonding is not set up.

Can also change the house off the inverter near the end of loadshedding and straight off the street. Wait for power to be restored. If the house regains power without an E/L trip then the E/L is fine and the issue is the earth/neutral bond on the inverter side.

If the E/L trips, then it is an end of life earth leakage breaker and the issue is not on the inverter side.
 
It's the El that trips. I'll check if I can get it replaced.

Buy a cheap tester then you know and not just replacing it. I had a similar issue that turned out to be the breaker feeding the inverter coming loose and arcing under big loads.

 
Has anybody ever seen this before, fluctuating grid frequency, from 0 up to around 50Hz and back to 0? We had an F18 error earlier which was definitely not an overload as we only had one geyser on with plenty sun and battery available. This was when I noticed the fluctuating grid frequency and the inverter basically says there is zero grid supply despite there being voltage and I can run appliances like our ovens which are on the non-critical side of the inverter...

Eskom warning you to cut back with load limiting?

No, mainly because we are not supplied by Eskom, also because things not on the critical side of our inverter are able to be run without any obvious issues.

Edit to add that at least two of our neighbours do not have the same issue as us with a wildly varying grid frequency.

Seems like I'm having an issue.

After every round of load shedding my DB trips. Happened this morning at 00:30 and again at 6:30. Both times after load shedding.

Going to check my grid reconnect time as previously when this happened my grid reconnect time was 60s and changing it to 600s fixed it.

Other alternative is just to disconnect from CoCT completely. Battery was still at 35% SOC so can completely disconnect for the rest of summer.

Also had this problem. My EL also trips when load shedding ends and Eskom turns on. However this only happens if my stove / oven is switched on at the wall. Since I have everything connected on my inverter (stove / oven / geyser), prior I had a 3-phase oven stoven combo. After I got my inverter installed, my oven / stove was still sitting on Eskom. I then upgraded my stove / oven to a single phase oven and an induction stove top, and then asked them solar guys to put my stove / oven onto the inverter as well. After this was done it was found that the earth leakage tripped every now and then, usually with the Eskom electricity would come back on. I eventually figured it out that it had to do with a stove / oven, so now I switch off the stove / oven switch at the wall next to the stove and it does not trip the EL any longer for some reason. Had an electrician out to investigate and he looked at all the wiring on the DB board and in the kitchen switch as well, and he said he would need to do a full test of all electrical wiring inside the house from top to bottom to figure out exactly where the issue is coming from, as he suspect that there is faulty earth wiring somewhere in the house that was causing the EL to trip when the stove / oven switch it on. For now, I just leave my stove / oven switch turned off, and switch it on when we need to use the oven or stove, and when we are done switch it off again. The EL does not trip when Eskom comes back if the stove/oven switch is off.

I have a gas stove and oven so it can't be that. For now I just disconnected the grid completely and just running on solar and batteries. Fortunately I have enough battery power to carry me through the night with 25%SOC still by the morning.

Happened to me shortly after my install where it would trip after loadshessing ended. Replaced the earth leakage breaker and all is good.

Mmm, I noticed I have 31/32V on the inverter grid feed after disconnecting it, looks like I may have a similar earth leakage, neutral, etc. issue. which is causing my inverter to essentially reject the grid feed.

Can you check the status of your grid relay, mine says Disconnect which means my inverter see's the grid but is not using it...

Automations within Solar Assistant.

I seem to have worked out some, but the loadshedding schedule source has not been updated. Hopefully they will start up again

Hey that's pretty cool that they've added this now.

I've been handling automations for my inverter settings via home assistant (via solar assistant MQTT), but that is super handy if you don't want a full-blown HA setup.

Thanks. Is that when there is no grid feed to the inverter, so during load shedding or if you have switched mains off? Mine, is when there is grid feed, at 230V - 240V and 50Hz but the relay stays disconnected.
 
Grid Break is no incoming power connection (grid offline)
Grid Closed is grid online and being used.
Grid Open is grid online but not utilized.

Mmm, disconnect in terms of the SunSynk app, it doesn't seem to fit any of the scenarios listed? Our grid is up, it is at 232V and 50Hz, I have run the house off of it for most of the day but not via the inverter, our inverter grid relay is disconnected even though it recognises there is grid.
 
If it is using solar / batteries, the status should be open
That doesn't make sense to me. It's always connected to the grid in most instances unless it's an off-grid system and it needs to be able to use grid power instantly to balance load.

Or am I misunderstanding what this variable is.

Statuses are according to sunsyk. Maybe its for certain models or your model reports different values
