now come up better stuff than that to say to me

chinamen say men who keep saying same thing about other men are followers who dont have a mind to think for themselves.

Hi
sorry if this is a bit off topic,
but UUNET was mentioned a couple of times as being almost unshapped.

My question to the ones who have UUNET.

What pings do you get on overseas servers for games (CS, Battlefield etc) ?

BTW : After reading the whole thread,,,, I think the biggest disadvantage on AYCE is the 12 month contract time.
Looks to me that either they might know something about future DSL product offerings from the competition (maybe telkom themself) possibly coming out this year going into the uncapped or at least large traffic direction, or they are just guessing that other ISPs follow with a similar offer soon and want to make their customers getting stuck in this contract.
Either way doesnt sound honest to me, especially any NEW offer in the market should at least start with a trial period or a shorter initial contract time and when the service is estabished offer yearly contracts.

Hence the reason why smart people never sign contracts in an ever changing industry!

READ THE THREAD

I doubt he knows how to read or use proper grammer

Killaboob, seeing as you have no clue as to what is going on, then fine, use the AYCE account, they deserve you as a client, but just note this :

For R480 you get a 30 gig cap. International and local still counts towards your cap, and when capped, you're not only capped internationally, but locally too.

a Person on 512k ADSL can easily pull 140gig if uncapped. There exists various communities in South Africa that run P2P software to share files each of them has downloaded off international bandwidth.

So if Pietie downloads the newest patch of Battefield 1942, he can share that file with his friends on local bandwidth even after he (and his friends) has been capped.

That is how you're able to download 140 gig a month, and that is the main problem (other than the dodgy answers given and contract for something that they can't guarantee for the life of your contract) I have with AYCE, is because they will cap your local bandwidth as well.

Anyone who has experienced the international cap's speed (or serious lack thereof) would literally piss his pants if he can't download locally anymore (in your case, even GAME locally)

So before you spew alot more of your bullsh1t arguement, read, open your mind, try and understand what we are really saying about AYCE, and enrich your life by opening your eyes to how wrongly consumers are getting treated these days by businesses out to make a quick few bucks.

Thats, like I said, _IF_ you can read and comprehend the language I'm writing in.

That is exactly why they have a 12 month contract, I expect alot of changes in April/May and June. Hopefully (fingers crossed) ICASA and the government would open the SAT3 cable to wholesale buyers (who then don't need to pay Telkom)

This would mean that internet access would (should) get cheaper by around 8 times (that is reported on how much Telkom overprice the international bandwidth with)

Oh, and seeing that killaboob loves saying we're sheep, I have to seriously consider the fact that it takes a bigger one to know a smaller one, and "i know you are but what am I?"

Because the childishness of your posts are seriously indicitave of your age and comprehension on what we are going on about.

Go play battlefield 1942 rather, and stop moaning about what we're discussing here

Okay, this thread is going nowhere. No new info coming out on this topic. I am closing it down.

Feel free to open a new topic though if something comes up.

Thanks
