So...

Anyone here who tried playing an alt, but keep going back to your main and not play wit the alt at all again?

I'm having this problem...how can you have more than 1 char? I have tried many classes and I still like my mage best and I still have so much to do and kill with him.

What I do not understand is these lot that have alts, but their mains aren't even geared yet >.<

Depends what you enjoy in the game... Some people like to level and do quests even if it means doing the same quests 5 times. So you can get one char to 70 then start all over again, in effect you have no main char...
Others like yourself like to focus on one toon at a time, pampering it with gear gaining reputation with all sorts of factions establish a guild/ raid group etc.
Other people just play the game to trade on the Auction house ;)

It's all about what you like about the game. If you like lvl'ng like me you will have plenty alts. If you like and game and getting gear, you will be stuck on your main.

I will be raiding hard in WoTLK. As there is no expansion in the works for another 2 years atleast. I was playing catch up cos I started WoW after TBC was released already. So this time round I can be amoungst the bad guys. I just need to get all my chars to 80 first :D

I have 4 70's: Orginal (pve) main: hunter, geared t5. Bank alt: mage, geared in dungeon/crafted. Pvp noob: rogue, cba to grind s1 :o. New (pve) main: shammy, geared in badges, pvp and Bt. Each of my characters (despite all being dps classes) are fun to play. The playstyle varies between the hunter with shot rotations to my rogue with watching your energy and keeping SnD up.

My Main reached the Pinnacle of his career, best gear he could get,PvP and PvE sets,he kills things in milliseconds so i'm bored with him. Whereas my alts are only going through T4/5 and S2/3 at the moment so i'm enjoying them more ;)

lol i got 3 70's 1 40 and a bunch of little noobs. My main is my rogue, will only roll a DK now.

About the title of this thread...

One of the best PVP guild names I ever saw: "Alt Ctrl Defeat" XD

hehe, wanted to call it Alt, but that looked dumb :o.

Ye, I have full PvE and PvP sets on my mage...I do both. Both can be fun, although I'm more of a raider ^^

Its not that I do not have time for alts...just that I hate leveling and they bore me.

I agree with Pitbull though...was also playing catchup with TBC. WotLK will see me to the end! Mwhahaha *cough*

If your a pvp guy like me you wana know what skills other guy have and how to counter them best way is to know your enemy.

The ancient Chinese warrior Sun Tzu taught his men to "know your enemy" before going into battle. For if "you know your enemy and know yourself," he wrote, "you need not fear the result of a hundred battles." But, Sun Tzu warned, "If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat."

I'm in the same boat as Pitbull with regards to starting well into the life cycle of TBC, but now have my lvl70 for the start of WOTLK. Will level him to 80 asap and then start with a DK. Not many ppl in our small guild planning on getting a DK to 80, so I'll try to be the 1st.

I've also had the "so what now, I've reached 70....what now?" feeling, but as soon as you start to discover what you still need to do to get your toon geared and ready for end game content....I realised that there's not a lot of time left for Alts.

Maybe not but dude before you reach 80 your gone see a lvl 80 DK some people dont have jobs just play WOW unless your one fo them.

Almost everyone i know on WOW is gone play a DK in WOTLK beta they say place was full of DKS you had 4 DKs and one healer runing dungeons.

I use to read alot about it in WOW insider before my WAR days.

some people love the "leveling" aspect or don't know of the "end game content" so they just level another char ....

I have 2 alts my pala dinged 70 last night finally! I'm ditching my priest and will level pala and mage to 80.

Hold on to the priest dude palas are gonne get hit hard by the nerf stick.Saw how a retadin green geared taked out full vengfull geared dude.

I originally never intended to play another toon (druid). But after respeccing full resto for raiding I found that killing things was just that much more tedious, so I rolled a hunter just to farm ... then I discovered what fun they are in PvP, farming and dailys ... So I have my druid for raiding and my hunter for everything else atm.

I will also roll a DK but only after I hit 80 with at least one of my current 2 'mains'.

I doubt that paladins will be hit that hard. There have already been a few minor nerfs implemented with a couple more coming on exp day. These will be mainly aimed at reducing burst dmg capabilities for pvp balance.

I will take both my paladin and priest to lvl80 in tandem. I am just hoping that priest healing will perform better at lvl80, since the current talent set, with current spells and grear is simply not that hot.

lol, thats exactly the problem I have :p

Or not being able to pwn mobs >.<

I have found a cure for it though, I get my little sister to level my chars once in awhile now i am stuck with their levels being all over the place even she hates it lol =)

Its all about finding the class that suits you and your play style.

I have tried other classes, but I keep loosing interest in them. Honestly I love the hunter class the most. So much theory and concepts you have to understand under the class, and I don't know how anyone from South Africa can play a melee class... to put it blunt, its friggen annoying, irritating and frustrating on our latency. Even on my Ex farming bot druid that got banned, having those annoying "not behind enemy" or enemy not in range error thingies... damn, yet on your side, you are right on top of the mob is just stupidly frustrating.

Ranged DPS FTW on our latency thank you. Even healers with split second reaction times... on our latency... no thanks.

Best is to try a few classes, and see what you enjoy the most. I dont even feel the need to roll an alt, I am that happy with the hunter class... Same with the expansion, if I do continue, I am not re rolling classes.
