that was my reaction to it as well... Think for now, ill give others 1st go at this. No way am i going to dip my head into that 1st. Well not at 3500 rand, heck not even on the contract offering of 589 a month.
 
That list sucks, real pity.

Heard this thing was 3-4yrs in the making.

The problem with that list, is that i have seen most of it, or have most of it already. Here and there are a few i havent seen, but honestly, i would steer well clear of this thing. I dont think the guys at Multichoice will have restless nights over this thing.

it is alot of stuff, but is it worth the 3500 tag, plus a 299 monthly subs? or even the 589 contract terms? Think people would have to think really hard about it, before actually moving in.
 
Needs more documentaries.

Also only changing 10% of the content every month.
No shows i watch on regular basis.
 
There alot of content you still have to pay for from R15 to R25 :mad:
 
Asked a few people how sales were going, and from what i could gather, not great. Not sure what the uptake has been on the contract side of things
 
We They're not really demoing though - that'll help with sales. Nothing on display and not even an open box to see the unit! He could only show me the box

Also the sales needs to be informed how it works - the guy at Dions Wired didn't know it worked with satellite...

I also see many uninformed guys on the Facebook group yesterday all assumed streaming and data ontop of the R3,500/R300pm. They really need to educate a little more.

For me the issue is the R3,500 decoder cost. R300pm isn't too bad
 
Im Also on the facebook page, and agree the people are confused. This could turn into a serious flop for Altech. I was yesterday at Game, and also nothing on display.

With the DSTV HD DSD now selling for R450 and uncapped they going to struggle. Decent selection on Compact for R295.

they simply don't have a target market.

I understand, but apart from being illegal it isn't easy for the majority of the population to get a movie even with full access. Also many are outside of a real ADSL area or limited to slow, laggy 2/4mbs lines which - although they make a get a movie - will also take hours and hours to get.

If I sit my parents down in front my PC and ask them to get something, they wouldn't have a clue. Even Netflix, they wouldn't get passed the location issue.

As an all in one simple solution, it could work with education.

this thing ain't going into the townships which is a problem for this company.
 
The worrying thing is, that there are loads of people in the townships, who have dstv. Why? Because a standard decoder is dirt cheap, and there are cheap packages available.
 
Think I'll wait a few months and see what happens then.

R3500 is a tad bit too much for a decoder.
