I like the idea of new blockchains, not just things built on existing blockchains.
You gone in large? Thinking of just selling some ****coins and putting $100 in or whatever I can sell them for. The benefits of ****coin airdrops :p.
Nope just 20 dollars for now.

This was caught shortly before the launch, so that is why the mobile miner is down, and there are no transactions yet, but you can still safely mine with a computer and use your public address to mine.

The devs stopped the hackers from successfully stealing even 1 coin.

I received an email at about 4am that somebody requested a PIN reminder. I incidentally awoke around that time and checked up on electronium status but did not see the email until later this morning and was starting to wonder if I clicked something on the page after logging into their website.

The mining pool site is hanging when I try to confirm my earnings. Will let you know. Not sure about total supply etc. I was expecting it to be live on exchanges today and I can't seem to find any news about it.

Are you using the simple miner? It keeps telling me my address isn't valid.

Edit: Oops, seems like my Copy and paste wasn't getting the entire address.

Yes.
You need to copy all 3 lines of the address as provided in the paper wallet.
Copy all three lines and string them together into a single line.

Sorry another question, I just seem to be in a endless loop of "retry in 10secs", any ideas?

Still can't find any way to even register an account... Even found a "create account" button on the one page... takes me to a login page. That's how you inspire confidence I guess :p

I get the same on my desktop. Running it on laptop right now and it works there. Try disabling AV and firewalls. I suspect it's just really buggy still and needs some development.

Tbh this Electroneum going live is a bit of a meh event. I was expecting exchange listings and working software today.
Anyway.

That's about 20 minutes of cpu mining on an old i7-3520M laptop. Tricky to tell as the miner keeps dropping the connection.

Still no luck, I restarted my PC and the mining, it started counting threads but then stopped and went straight back to retry in 10secs.

If by any chance useful to somebody:

I downloaded the 'direct mining' (solo miner) package and synced the blockchain, then created a wallet with the included cli wallet and used that address in Yam Miner (https://mega.co.nz/#F!UlkU0RyR!E8n4CFkqVu0WoOnsJnQkSg - I used the 64 bit windows generic version)

yam -c x -M stratum+tcp://etnkNMRieehKZrYCWUmymv1uzsy5coFFJ3rKvEFNcqgx8E43acbmyW76AKF2c5Tp5QNzjYdD1nVe3DmvSFZ7FNjd6Js8zox7mc:x@uspool.electroneum.com:3333/xmr (replace with your own address of course)

EDIT: You can then later transfer your mined coins to your paper (or other) wallet using the cli wallet

I got burned terribly investing in s$%ty ICOs. I first made a lot of money in August, then I lost a whole lot more (including some of my capital). Now I'm in a situation where I'm going to hodl the alt coins I already hold, hoping to recover before December at least.

Good luck, I have my doubts about NEO at times for example, sometimes it also pays of to make use of volatility (by trading).

Any advice about what to do with electronium bought during ICO ?

One guy claims he already mined 1/10'th of what he invested, this probably means an inflationary effect ?
Electroneum
3 minute ·

Quite big news! Just officially applied to Cryptopia for our first exchange listing - it's cost over $25,000 USD to apply, so fingers crossed! We've screen captured our application for posterity.

I have mined about 1/20'th of my investment so far.

The mobile miner is also basically going to give out coins for doing nothing (airdrop basically), the whole thing seems terribly inflationary yet I have a feeling something may still come from it.

The update for the mobile wallet/miner is available b.t.w, but mining is not active yet.

Not sure how to answer this - how would you?
If you only invested $10 it's a very different question to if you invested $1000.
How much did you invest then?

If that's all it's pretty fking meh news. I've seen smaller projects raise less than 1/10 of what electroneum raised get listed on cryptopia right out the gates. I'm not ****ting on your news ...I'm just very underwhelmed at Electroneum's first steps.

That was more about being able to sell some off soon, often times there is a drastic upward spike then a gradual decrease into worthlesness...
