That's the whole point of technical analysis - to make a more informed decision about what is likely to happen. You can't know what the stock market will do, but you can use the charts to make predictions with a reasonable degree of accuracy. To just buy something when it's at it's peak after a 150-odd% percent jump you're almost guaranteed to be down 20-40% in the next day or two.

You can make a lot more money looking out for projects with potential & buying low rather than waiting for them to blip on the radar with a 150% jump.

You are right, because it spiked, doesn't mean it's now too late to buy in?

If you plan to hold for 2 years, probably not. Just saying that if ADA cost $0.01 a week ago & you spent $1000 you'd have 100 000 ADA, vs. after a 150% increase at $0.025 you only get 40 000 ADA.

You buy at $0.01 and ADA hits $1, your ROI = $1/0.01 * $1000 = $100 000 (a 100x ROI)
You buy at $0.025 and ADA hits $1, your ROI = $1/0.025 * $1000 = $40 000 (a 40x ROI)

Depends what your strategy is I guess, but usually after a spike like that there's some pullback and room for a more profitable entry. Your goal is to buy as much of an asset as possible with a limited amount of money.

On a serious note though, why not ask your company to arrange for it to go into a tax free investment? Plenty of legit options to do that!

For BTC and ETH (and my ZAR withdraw) I use Luno & Altcointrader. Otherwise for the Altcoins i use Bitfinex. There's a pretty big selection of coins on there.

Same here.
Buy ETH / BTC locally on luno and almost immediately move it to bittrex, cryptopia, binance, kucoin, coinecxchange or wherever I need it for altcoin trading.

I'm very surprised it's gone up like this. Even if I got my ico tokens now I'm still holding.

Im not really surprised. This is a classic case of a pump, someone is trying to get new money to carry the pump and then you will see a massive dump. This happens every week to some coin-of-the-week by pumpndump groups preselecting which coin is the best target usually targetting low volume cheap coins.

It is dirt cheap to move the price, electroneum peak volume is just over $1million a day, thats absolutely nothing to most of the pumpndump groups collectively.
