Hi

Went to my local Vodacom outlet today,to sign a iphone contract. Was looking at the iphone price plans and they seemed a bit high , especially since i dont really need the 250megs of data or the 100 sms's. The lady advised that the following is a better option for me. What do you guys think? I really only need the 130 anytime minutes...

1 Iphone 16GB on Talk130 @ 315p/m (once off pay in R3329)

Or

1 Iphone 8gb on Talk 130 @ 315p/m (once off pay in R2189)

Im thinking of going the 16gb route and then putting the pay in of 3329 on my credit card(maybe over 12 months or so?)

Is this a decent option?

Now is not a good time to buy things you do not really need on credit.

I understand THE ITCH all too well, but sometimes one's head must be followed instead of one's heart. ;)

Sounds decent but I would advise that you get a bolt on data plan - once you start using the iPhone your data use is going to shoot up a lot - I got a 150mb bolt on 3g plan but then at home I connect using my wireless network so 3g is just used when I am away from home.

I would also consider the 8gb rather - unless you have tons of music you want to load but remeber, the battery will never be able to play 16 gb of music w/o a charge.

Yeah..im also using a wifi connection at home hence no need for the 250 megs(now anyways) Besides, the lady said i can upgrade to any of the iphone packages(or talk packages) at a later stage + as you mentioned i can use a bolt on whenever i know im going out of town or on holiday, etc. Strange though, because she made it clear to me that the iphone is network locked to vodacom? I thought otherwize?? It seems the new batches coming in are! Can anyone confirm?

Okay so you'll be paying (R315*24)+(R3329*?%) Whats the interest on credit cards these days? i know its huge lets make it 25% so thats R833+R3329=R4161

Bringing your total to: R11721 Wow is the iphone really worth R11721 to you? Get a iTouch for sub R3000 and keep ur prepaid cell if you really need your itch scratched (it has every single feature the iphone has except the phone, gps and bluetooth)
You have wifi so the touch can still do everything browse the net voip IM everything the iphone can

You forgot to subtract the R130 X 24 per month in phone calls you get for free bringing the total to R8601

Those phonecalls are not worth R130 thats why i left it out. Cost to vodacom is probably more like R13
