Alternative to 315 router

I find that the 315 does not give me the same range as my original dlink ADSL router. Besides connecting another router, is there a Telkom LTE compatible hotshot router that I could use instead?

Most appreciate the feedback

What do you mean here?

The wifi strength is very low in certain areas of my house so was think of buying a higher spec router. Apparently I can also buy a wifi booster that should solve the issue.

Do your ADSL router have WAN Ethernet port? Connect Huawei by cable to the Dlink WAN port, setup DMZ or port forwarding on Huawei and do all your routing and WiFi on Dlink.

Thanks for the feedback - ended up buying a decent range extender - all sorted.

Don't even need to get that complicated.

Just give the Huawei a Static IP in the same range as the Dlink and switch off it's DHCP and point it to the D-Link instead.

Then it becomes an Access Point with no routing.

Using the WAN port creates two networks and lots of complexity.

It is a very simple way. Unfortunately I saw reports that Huawei do not work well with other WiFi access points configured as WiFi extenders. It is a source of revenue, as they sell their own extenders which apparently work well.

For the clarity, please confirm if I understand properly this: "and point it to the D-Link instead". My only concern is that DHCP clients will not receive default gateway settings from Dlink, it must be configured manualy on each client. Alternatively Dlink (which do not do any routing), has an option to declare default gateway manually (Huawei IP address must be entered here). The same apply for distributing DNS settings.

No I'm not talking about using it as an extender. That involves a wireless bridge and a world of pain.

If you are running a cable to it then you simply use the "DHCP Relay" option and give it the D-link's IP.

That way all devices still get their settings from the D-Link.

So everything is managed by the Dlink. The Huawei is just a dumb device with a DHCP forwarding and access point.

It sounds good. Where I can find above option?

Normally close to the DHCP server options.

Depends on model and manufacturer but most support it these days.
