Hello

Yes another thread, but...

I wanted to see which alternatives to mweb's uncapped people chose and their experiences.

I am leaving mweb uncapped (what a shocker!!!!, or not). If I cancel today, I will still have my account till end of December due to their pathetic cancellation policies. The reason I did not cancel by the end of October, is that I was hoping they would lift some of their stupid throttling policies.

However, it is the 2nd November and I am throttled to death. I know there is a 30 day roll period, but hell, I have 3 pcs with updates to software of about 120gb download....................... I cannot wait 30 days to update my next pc.

Anyhow, who did you chose over mweb, and how is the experience with them?

Left mweb for the same reason. Went with Afrihost. First week was good but then came the 5kb/s downloads ALL day. I switched to the uncapped business account for R100 bucks more and its been awesome! No shaping. Moving to telkom tho beginning of Dec. Taking up their smart tv contract deal....

eafreak, we (like some of the ISP's) resell IS. On IS's basic uncapped, the rolling period is 10 days. My users that I have sold accounts to, complain very little and do recover quite quickly from shaping and/or throttling. If you want you can give us a try http://www.iteology.co.za/isp/adsl/. I think all ISP's have their advantages/disadvantages, but if you have not tried IS I would encourage it from one of the resellers like us who use IS. There are different ISP's around who break out differently and you could choose from Afrihost/Axxess/OpenWeb/Plugg or us seem to be the alternatives for you (but to name a few), but if you are not happy try some of these ISP's and I am sure you will find the right ISP for you.

Hi

Do you guys have test accounts. I don't want to be trapped again.

Afrihost or Telkom internet (do broadband). Using both isp's here. No complaints. Create a free 1gb capped account at Afrihost and test it out for yourself.

OpenWeb.

Have been with them for years. They are great. This weekend is what they call an unshaped weekend where they do not shape at all come hell or high water.

AH is shaping their clients into oblivion, just read their thread.

Best try afrihost first, at least if you're not happy you can cancel that same month.

You get what you pay for - Business accounts general are not shaped, but the cheaper home accounts are.
Having said that, I don't have a business account.

For reasons of my own I would STRONGLEY suggest AH or TI. Both of these are better than MWEB, but then again, a kick in the groin is better than MWEB.

Telkom Internet ...

Another alternative to MWEB is a swift kick to the nuts .... Both don't help you to surf the net, but the kick to the nuts is less painful.....:D

What is there threshold like? Are they truly uncapped

Just get test accounts with one of these and see which one works the best for you:

Telkom Internet
Plugg
Afrihost
Openweb
