Mr Delivery

True.. but MrDelivery lacks tracking of drivers and doing smart resource allocation. This is where Uber excels, maybe it will be a god thing though as MrDelivery needs to upgrade from their central operator model.

You know what? Just give the driver copies of the Transporter films and series and ask if he does any of that :p

I occasionally drive for Uber. We do get odd requests for deliveries only (no passengers).
It's usually small items like house keys or even car keys, or files,etc.

Also do a lot of pick ups from the posh school, so yes, a lot of parents do trust Uber drivers with their children.
- All Uber drivers go through a criminal check on sign-up, and must have passenger liability insurance of min. R5mil.

I asked a few drivers and they said no problem, they can tow me, as long as i have my own gear to tow with

So i suppose my question answered, yes you can do that

Buuuuuuuuuut - assuming you need a tow it would be a bit of a gamble as to weather the Uber driver the comes to "pick you up" would be willing to tow your car.

Just a thought...

yes theres that as well; but most of the guys ive met are quite happy to ;

even their app has an actual option for that; who would believe that?

at the end of the journey (driver) is asked to rate the trip, he got an option there for packages, and for towing,
thing is has anybody in SA tried this? does it work?

If you choose to be towed, is there an option to tell them the car you are stuck with. If not, you could have a fully loaded land cruiser, and an uber driver in a polo trying to tow it.

Also, what are the insurance implications for this? There is a danger to both the uber driver and customer.

for me personally not a issue as I drive a picanto and they (usually) have a corolla quest, so no issue, but I can see why there could be an issue;

good question about insurance unless you use a bar for towing; but your tow eyes need to be on the same side for that;

not exactly sure in my case, at least on a corolla;

Lots of uber drivers I've used have said they do delivers for people. Like food orders from restaurants that don't do deliveries.

sounds great, just wonder how you initiate.
