There is of course the school girl crush scenario. Where he moderately attractive, but the girl developed a crush on him while going through early teens. That kind of crush is so ingrained that she would find it sparked up again when confronted with him. Unless he is rocking a comb over or something.

I have had similar things happen to me too. Like knowing the daughter of a family friend when she is like 10 and I am like 16/17. You know them, you meet them, you don't think anything of it. Then years go by and this little 19 year old hottie jumps out of nowhere while you are in a pub/club, greets like she knows you. Then 15 seconds in you are like.... Nooooooooo...... double take.... Nooooooooooo. Has happened to me twice before. Unfortunately both times I had my GF/Fiance there at the time. Awkward introductions to follow.

@OP - There are 19 year old "girls" and then there are 19 year old women.

Pretty easy to tell the difference.
Stay away from the first type, play your cards on the second.
You were her teacher/coach , so what, you are not the first person to ever feel this way.
Older guy , younger women, really? so what, once again not the first to ever feel this way.
There are so many sick things and people in the world, dont equate a simple attraction you may have for the young lady as anything other than healthy.

Let me explain.

7 Years ago I started teaching.
6 Years ago I started coaching hockey.
My first team was the senior 13yo girls' hockey squad.

Time flew by ...

In the mean time ... my school is quite the preferred location for education students to do their mandatory practicals during their time of study.

My point ... yesterday one of the first year students (the one I'm about to refer to is 19, ATM (she took a gap year), by the way) presented herself at our hockey practice with my team, volunteering her assistance ... as they should.

My point ... the girl who introduced herself was one of the players of my very
first hockey team. I didn't recognise her at first.

She has since then done very well for herself academically and hockey-wise which is why she's with us.

My point is ... she's the first ... if not one of the first ... girls I've been surprised by.

When she introduced herself I admitted not remembering her ... but 10 seconds into the conversation I flared up and exclaimed that I remembered her. The thing is .... she was stocky and square when she was 13yo ... Now she is !!! Amazing!!! I was almost dumbstruck while she was talking to me.

There I was, a 35yo man with 7 years teaching experience being befuddled by a very attractive and sexy 19yo woman. I was like .... DAMN .... You look way different than you did when you were 13yo.

I'm sure none of you have had this experience!!!

Ja, the more I think about it the less of an issue it seems. Despite what some have said it's not that unusual for a 19 year old woman to be attracted to a 35 year old man even if he isn't Brad Pitt. Anyway, let's not build Picards hopes up here.
I think his problem is that he knew her when she was a child and now he feels conflicted by being attracted to her as a young woman. As long as you're not turned on by that fact you should be fine.
