Am I crazy?

..and my friends say I'M paranoid?! *heh*, well maybe- but at least I'm able to do a little digging too. ic & whistleblower- had you but clicked on my handle, you'd see I have a homepage that unequivocally shows me as NOT being a Sentech employee; that, in fact, I answer to no-one (NOT the nimrod here!) and while I'm inclined to post positive-type input, it's typically centred around technical issues. It also means I can and will (..and HAVE) posted my opinion on how/where/when they've screwed the pooch. Whistleblower- please note.

ic: yes, I'm "commercially invested" -but I'm an independent contractor. I do sell MyWi directly; but I tend to get assigned/called to assist with difficult cases where an external antenna seems necessary. In short- I do this, in part, for a living.

Turtle- I hear YOUR message too; I've seen cases of really low signal level where it seems to work just fine; tho' I really wouldn't want to install one of those into a router appliance- they tend to choke where a PC handles the situation better. Also, we're all fumbling around in the dark here as regards speeds, behaviour patterns etc. Which is why we have situations like here, now where me 'n nonroker are going on about lots of signal but Turtle says he works fine with *low* signal.

Please do me a favour... It's patently obvious to anyone that has used Mywi for any significant amount of time and for anything other than reading CNN or emailling, that MyWi is not fab and this has zero to do with signal strength.

You want to do the rational and objective thing to change the status quo? - well then stop lying to people on this forum that MyWi in it's present state is "fab".

What is the rational objective thing to do after months of paying R850 for half dial up speeds? After all the months of rational, objective, positive engagement by many on this forum with sensuck... After sensuck repeatedly promising to improve their service and proved to be lying through their teeth. What would you have us do, exactly? Buy an aerial? From you?

I have few alternatives to sensuck at the moment so I am just grinning and bearing this pathetic excuse for a network until iBurst or something else has coverage in my area. In the meantime, since sensuck seems to have decided to embark on a major advertising campaign just in time for xmas, I will dedicate some resources to educating unwitting consumers about this company - website soon.

This is the most positive thing that anyone can do in connection with sensuck, far more positive than cheerfully telling everyone that mywireless is the greatest thing since sliced bread so the ignorant surge forth and sign away 24 months of R650pm or even R850pm for the even worse 256k service. (Yes 256k package performs worse than 128k package - "fab" isn't it?).

I agree, sentech is not all that it was made out to be, but please, i have tried to download using a dial up and max speed = 5,5Kb/s.and thats when I was rooting for it using threaded downloads. Yesterday my wireless speed was 14.8 Kb/s.

So where do you come with that dial up is better. It costs more. Sure you can have call more time or what ever they call it, but it does not work, as everyone knows, you get disconnected every now and again.

Ha ha ha... Sentech Suxs...

Guys you have to look at this subjectively.

Sentech are crap. They are crap based on the user experiences recorded by this forum. Sure they are good with local speeds. Their caps are higher then any other offering at the moment and it seems they want to fix their international problem.

But for general internet surfing (internationally) they are probably the worst in the country. This gets irritating when you need to do research or in my case when you are updating or designing sites that are hosted outside ZA. Its not broadband for the experienced web user but more for the rich house wife.

However local is like a dream. 5Mb files uploaded in under 3 minutes...

I believe all Sentech require are consistency... and it seems they consistently fail to do this.

It seems Sentech are disregarding their most important asset... Us.

myWireless 128, 64, 48, 16 - depends on its mood.

For my part I have 5 months of test data comprising signal strength, download and upload speeds that make a compelling case for rational and objective testing. On your side sits a putz who'd rather defame the credibility I've been building up in these forums than engage in any kind of helpful discourse. Yea, right- let's all follow YOUR lead.

A "rational objective"(sic) person looking at your apparently sorry state of affairs might well suggest that you either pack it in or *gasp, here's a shocker* DO something about it. But that'd mean you'd have to stop whining and put down your 'look at me I'm so hard done by' placard ..*snort*, that's likely! But now that you mention it, my plan IS, in part, to get sales- that'd be the "rational objective"(sic) thing for a someone looking to drum up business to do. Go figure.

"Few alternatives" is nowhere near the same as "none"; at the risk of repeating myself: put up or shut up. That means stop your pathetic puling and do something a "rational objective"(sic) person would do; like change your status quo to something that works instead of dedicating "some resources" in what seems to be some kind of retaliation -oh yea, THAT'S rational alright!

Actually, the most positive thing is the "rational objective"(sic) route; honest disclosure, realistic expectations about the strengths and weaknesses (technical, managerial ..whatever) of the service. Oh- and informed decisions based on all of the above. But it would seem this doesn't fit your persecution complex worldview.

Each to their own I guess.

We don't need an unending argument about how well mywireless works. We know it doesn't work as it should - hundreds of others do as well. If you truly have five months of data then you should know that, heck even Sentech admitted their network sucked in meetings with the cug and press releases - what the hell do you think the big September deadline to "fix" the network was all about? Why do you think the ASA and ICASA recommended to sentech that they stop advertising their product as "broadband"?

Why are you trying to build up credibility in these forums, anyway - what the f*** is your motive here? We are just a group of sentech users that are honestly struggling with the situation so it doesn't help that you barge in here looking for an argument and defending sentech at all costs. Sorry, I don't trust you one bit. Go read the other 22777 posts on this forum - are we all "putz's" - even those that put so much effort in that they went to the trouble of writing linux drivers, working out antennae configurations, putting up websites, etc etc with advice that sentech themselves weren't bothered to give their users?

I think it no coincidence that you have chosen now to pipe up - why weren't you telling us how great your sentech connection was three months ago when it was at it's worst? Now that there is a major ad campaign on the go and some of us have declared our intention to try and get publicity against sentech to warn off potential users and maybe make a last ditch effort to force sentech to fix this thing, suddenly we have a hostile argumentative dividing force on the forum???

I know sentech sucks, I live with the problem everyday. Enough said.
