My invoice reads as follows:
19 POP Mailboxes Hosted for May 2010 R541.50 Incl VAT

Is this a decent deal?

R 541 PER MONTH for 19 mailboxes? Provide more details, for regular email hosting that's absolute madness.

Why not just use Google Apps? 50 mailboxes for free for standard users...

Not free anymore. We use it at our company (less than 50 users) and pay a year fee. (Sorry, we use the domain hosted Google Apps)

EDIT: OK, I'm wrong. We use the Premium package and that is why I always get confused about the costing.

I couldn't find a link to the free google apps. Is it free even for businesses? I want to start a company and it will only have three people.

nvm

Sound VERY expensive. Check the site in my signature for a better deal

*VERY* expensive could mean that he's on an hosted exchange server, which you can't offer @ VERY cheap prices. Hosted Exchange has a LOT of features and is generally aimed at business not personal hosting.

Hence people asking him to provide more details.

I found this: http://www.realwebspace.co.za/

Email Hosting
Reduced CO.ZA Domain
Unlimited Mailboxes
100 MB Storage
1,000 MB Bandwidth
Spam Assassin
All accounts are POP3 and IMAP

R24pm

NB, the 1gb bandwidth means you'll only be able to receive 1 gb of emails in a month (something I do easily, especially for business). plus if it's hosted overseas you're screwed if it breaks.

I'd recommend http://www.rackspace.co.uk/email-apps/email-hosting/rackspace-email/ (19 boxes will cost you less than R300 and get you 10gb email boxes) but you have the servers in the UK unfortunately.

Google apps, been using it for years. Better than hosted exchange or zimbra even..
