If Telkom are doing this why not limit each user to maxium of 30 gigs. Some people are downloading 160 gigs. What is there on the internet that you need to download that amount of data? To this person that did this, I bet you, you havent even gone through half the stuff that you downloaded, so why do it? You are playing us into Telkoms hands

My point exactly sunsoffun, I liked telkoms 3gig without a cap, now idiots calling themself forum members and even RPM himself messed it up for the rest of us with hundreds of gigs and I am called a hellkomer, ignorant, and preparing Telkom's next spin... Idiots!!! Telkom will be six steps ahead no matter what you do

I enjoy telkom as enemy, the day they give me exactly what I want is the day I crack, the next day they will be back to get me from "the behind".
The same way some forum idiots helped me from 30gig to 3gig in a matter of weeks.******!!

If an ISP is reselling accounts for 512k or 1024k connections they must be able to support a full 1024k connection from each account at all times, end of story. So even if some oak is downloading 24 hours a day at full bandwidth it should not be a problem to the isp or anyone. e.
Ouch, that would cost a sh*tload of money. :)

What you're talking about is basically a 1024k leased line...

You seem to have a profound misunderstanding of how web sites work; myADSL (I believe) is hosted by Hetzner. I therefore doubt RPM has contributed to a situation where, and I quote your charming, eloquent post again,

While none of us can prove that you are a Telkom troll you certainly have gone out of your way to create that impression. Personally, in most cases, I can't even make head or tail what you are trying to say: trying to parse your sentences seems not to be worth the effort.

Telkom considers 30gb heavy abuse anyway. What difference does it make? There should be no cap whatsoever and if I want to download the same file over and over again 24/7, I should have the freedom to do it.

... everyone should, but we DONT at the moment. The people that are taking advantage of the system, will make the rest of us stay within this 3 gig cap for a very long time. Let hope the SNO will solve this problem.

Do you consciously hold yourself back from downloading everything you feel like in order to do your bit for the greater good?!

My point is that without sufficient revenue to justify increasing investment, we are going to get to a place where at least some high bandwidth services might not work so well because of insufficient capacity at peak usage times.

How much revenue is sufficient for Telkom? They make a bucket load as it is.

JouPaSeEpos you are confused or trying to confuse the issue. Youre argument seems to be that if the demand is to great then bandwidth providers wont be able to keep up and will go out of business.

The smaller networks will have to invest in bandwidth just like any other ISP any where else in the world. The same goes for SNO. And the same goes for Telkom.

Its called supply and demand: as the demand increases then some one steps in and supplys the desired service.

Do you think Tata is considering pulling out of the SNO because the demand for bandwidth is to high in South Africa ?

Elsewhere in the world( and thats everywhere except us and Russia incedently) ISPs seem to be handling the demand for bandwidth quite admirably with out capping the hell out of their customers.

You obviously think that Telkom deserves to make more than twice as much revenue per line as BT does.

The only mention that RPM has made of using `hundreds; of gigs (actually, just over a hundred) is in connection with the hosting of this website [AFAIK: otherwise please supply a link to support your contention]. And yes, I agree, you are confused.

Finally: I think you misunderstood fivelza's comment; he was making a comment about your vulgarity, not your painful inability to spell (you may be typing fast, but then so am I).

Can you not make your point without expletives
Ditto.

JouPaSeEpos has no contact details on his profile so I cannot give him a warning to stop using vulgar language on the forums via email or PM.

@JouPaSeEpos consider this warning enough not to use foul language on MyADSL any more.
If by any chance you miss it, you cannot hold the Mods responsible for being "unfair" on any actions they may or may not take. OK. :)
