i have this wierd problem with amarok 1.4 i just installed it on opensuse 11.1 i just realised there is no option too change the database for scanning files so its obscenely slow and i cannot even get it too scan my music

i have been using linux for 4 years i am very comfortable its not my first time running amarok . any way on the settings -> collection there is normaly an option too choose the database you wanna use Sqlite or msql or postgrep (something like that ) i knw sqlite is slow so i normally setup mysql and within an hour my whole collection has been scanned spanning 3 partitions . yet now its 3 hours later and its still scannining

its all good i had this version of amarok working on opensuse 11 without a hitch but think it has somethin to do with 11.1

I got Amarok to use MySQL on Ubuntu Hardy and Intrepid, so it should be fine on OpenSuse too. I dropped Amarok because it isn't producing any audio after I upgraded though.

Think you missed what i said . What i said is that there is no option too choose the database so i'm not able to switch to mysql

you could always delete amarok's files from the .kde/ directory and just run the wizard again.

you'll have to find all its files. I don't know what the kde4 config file structure is like, but in kde3 there are two places under .kde - don't remember which though.

i deleted the ones i. .kde /share/apps nd the config folder

it's clearly still reading something. Try this in your .kde directory:

find . -iname amarok*

That should show any files starting with "amarok"

Oh and make sure Amarok is not running in the tray!

uncle the problem with mine is that there is no option to change database

i think its an opensuse 11.1 issue because even my amarok 2.0.1 does not have the option just would like someone else who is running opensuse too confirm

I have amarok 1.4.10 on Gentoo and it does not have the sql option... ooh never mind I needed to merge with sql options, maybe opensuse needs option added as well.
