Can't believe it, phoned Telkom at about 14:30 this afternoon to request a line upgrade from 512 to 1024/4096, was surprisingly easy, got through straight away, spoke to an intelligent human being etc. :D Now I just checked and my line's syncing at 4096! Can't believe they actually did it so quickly!

You're referring to Telkom, the monopolistic, small bunny killing, sells poison candy to children, no good doing, vomit flinging, nazi-supporting telecommunications giant, right? :)

I went to one of their service centres (Florida) on Friday (29 Dec; at about 15h00) and asked for an upgrade. I spoke to a lady, whom did not made any impression of competence on me, and gave her the "full monty" on technical detail - must admit that I actually enjoyed watching her face as I spoke to her. She typed something on her PC, gave me a reference number, and said a technician would be in contact with me. I drove home (about a 10 min drive), test my speed, and, ...., I was upgraded!!!!!! Thus, I suppose they are able to do somethings out of total ignorance correctly.

very easy actually

this is actually very straight forward, as your line is capable of going upto 6Mbs depending how far you are from the exchange (with the newer DSLAM equipment this can go to 24Mbs), all they have to do is type a couple commands on a computer and you upgraded, but still supprised as Telkom can stuff simple requests up quite easliy.

:D I also had the same experience on Tuesday when I upgraded to the 4Meg.

Spoke to a REALLY REALLY nice INTELLIGENT lady on the "other side" and she was so helpfull. I thanked her and even said I'd nominate her for an award for the best service ever...she laughed.

Hopefully that kind of service is a given with Neotel.
