Well on Saturday evening I received my long outstanding Fathers Day gift.
an iPhone 4, 32gb from Australia. As this was purchased on 8/10 the operating system is the latest - 4.1. Price Au$ 999. with a Sales tax refund of about Au$ 90.
Stock was freely available from an Apple Store with no limit on quantities if you needed more than 2 units
I tried to cut my own micro sim, but failed. So this morning did an sim swop and now all is normal again.
I was so taken aback by the gift, that I gave my 3Gs to my eldest grand daughter, and she now joins her brother as an Apple fan.

The quality is truly amazing and I am very impressed with the camera and video functions.
Having migrated from my original 3G to 3Gs and now 4G I think the biggest change is the optical quality as well as the increased operating speeds.

I understand that SJ has total control of the "system", and that is the choice of the buyer. So if you buy one don't complain about restrictions afterwards.

Looking forward to the November OS upgrade, which will make wireless printing possible. At least Apple does not forget about their market and hands out regular upgrades - not like the other manufactures. Boy I'm glad to be off the XDA site, continually trolling for hacked updates. (M$ Windoooze Mobile)

So here's to all the Apple fan boys!

@BasilRSA Hey old balie :D I thought only youngster like me with 17 talk about been 'fanboys'. WTF This world is really screwed. People like you should be more interested in their 'last will' then latest iPHONE :D

Hey Grhart, The computer era developed in my lifetime and I evolved with it. So maybe I can teach you a thing or two about the technology. But what you need to learn is a lesson in life before it passes you by and you remain an empty drum just good for making noise.
At least my children have made successes of their lives - yours seems so empty and shallow, wasting your resources on meaningless comments. Remember jealousy makes one nasty.
BTW. Make sure you have a will - you will never know when it may be necessary. That is if you own anything of value!

Immature post....off topic, and shows a lack of respect and dignity. If you were man enough, you would just quietly apologize and remove the post - and you would be forgiven. Or, if not, then we would know that you are a boy, not man enough to show remorse or dignity

Enjoy your new phone Basil, I hope to get one at the end of the year

Thanks for the positive comments
You won't regret the wait, that I promise you. Maybe the white ones will be available by then.

Thanks for the positive comments guys. I am now convinced that this forum can be constructive and not just filled with stupid comments.
Next on my list is a MacBook Pro, although I will still keep my Dell XPS 1640. Great for watching BluRay movies and photo editing as well.
Luv my new iPhone 4
Cheers all.

Just don't move over to the car section, :D:D:D

I have had my iPhone 4 32GB for over a week now and its simply amazing as the topic of this thread suggests! It is my 1st iphone and it is truly a remarkable device.. the number of things 1 can do with this device and at the same time actually make calls/sms makes it the perfect all round hand held device. The only two negative things i can say about the iphone is 1) its a very delicate device.. 1 drop and that could be a write off 2) the battery life is not great, especially if u running many apps with all features turned on.

Overall it has too many positives against those only two negatives. Well done Apple!

Congrats on the new iPhone!!!! Got mine from Aus just over a month ago too. Amazing how many ppl there actually use iPhones - think I counted about 1 in 3 ppl!!!!!
Loving my new iPhone though :) Enjoy it - schweeeet :D

100% correct. Its just this country that there is a Blackberry craze.

I have just spent 2 years in London. Just got back a month ago. This is no exaggeration, of every 10 people on the tube, 8 will have their iPhones in their hands.

I was a Nokia guy all my life. however I have just ordered my first iPhone. Waiting to receive delivery.

That's just because of Vodacom's total rip-off pricing in the past. It cost way more to get a 3G or 3GS compared to your average Nokia or Blackberry. We will see a lot more iPhones now with the iPhone 4 priced competitively. Heck, I wanna get one!

Also in most countries the data bundle with the iPhone is more generous, here the BIS was much better value.

Try hey - I thought BlackBerry would be popular - only saw a handful in the whole month I was in Australia...

What's more interesting is if you look at global smartphone market share. Nokia is by far the biggest, but in the US, they're tiny!

I could be wrong, but I thought BlackBerry was the biggest, then iOS?? I could be wrong though.
Nonetheless, the American's think different to the rest of the world (no pun intended with Apple's slogan) but I like their thinking :D

RIM/Blackberry was number one, they still might be, in market share, but Android is the leader in current sales, followed by Apple. This is for the US. I agree, Symbian must just go now.
