Amazon blacklists south africa's post office

Quite the contrary, they notoriously reliable and surely passing a lie detector test would evoke trust in you from your employers? If I had an employee refusing to take a test that would indicate guilt or that he/she was hiding something.

No, really, they aren't. Believe me, I've seen research done. They have incredibly high false positive rates, and aren't so great on the false negatives either. It's also pretty easy to game the system.

I can't load google suddenly, for some reason, so I can't find any references for you (and this is kinda OT for this thread anyway) - but if you're interested we can start a new thread and get into all the nitty gritty details :)

Its sad to hear this from Amazon. Personally, post office has delivered every item I have imported through the normal post. The few problems I had have been delays at Customs.

I see your location says "best country in the world" and you dont mention which post office. I can see where the confusion comes in but we are referring to the South African post office, not the one you have been using.

First-hand experience...

I sent an envelope (International Priority Express) to SA with USPS in February 2007, while staying in the US. When I arrived back in SA 2 months later, it still had not arrived. Surprise surprise... it never arrived.

SAPO sucks big time. Even when they don't help themselves to your purchases, it sometimes still takes their stupid little "international parcel notification" slip more than a week to get from your local post office to your mailbox (which in my case is just 2km away)! If you phone to enquire about your mail, they get irritated (never mind you having to spell your name and surname 20 times), but if you give up and wait, that slip can take forever (or worse never arrive). I've retraced my packages' hops thanks to the date stamps and found that in most instances, they arrived in SA within one week from being ordered. It took SAPO a further 2 to 6 weeks to transport the package to the local post office. Shame on you SAPO!

Oh yeah, they also like forwarding your parcels from one post office to the next (each trip taking up to a week or more), because the post office receiving your parcel claims it is not your closest post office. Just keep it wherever! I don't mind driving an extra km or 2, as long as I get it asap.

Do I hear a "hey, that happens to me as well!" ?

Seldom had delivery problems and the postal service is a lot faster than it was 20 years ago.

When I have phoned about a parcel I am expecting, but have not yet received the notification, they're always helpful.

No.

Whenever I take a package to the post office, I've seen how they toss the packages (with HDD's around) and it makes me so damn angry!
That applies to every post service and even the courier companies. Most people wouldn't want know how their packages are handled.

So will the postal workers here finally go postal

Does anyone else find it amusing that the SAPO spokesperson's name is "Lose"?

No.

In the other thread you said you make use of courier?
