Amazon South Africa has launched

Amazon’s South African marketplace has quietly gone live, offering shoppers free delivery on their first purchase.

In addition to direct delivery, Amazon is also supporting 3,000 pickup points at launch.

Sadly not, as predicted it's not cheaper and it's catering to local suppliers. Don't see it really taking off unless they can do overseas shipping

Selection is very crappy unfortunately, hope it gets better and that they include the option to more easily import items from the US/UK, otherwise useless and will just keep using Takealot.

I just ordered the Soundcore Space A40 from Amazon.com for someone. R1681 no discount with shipping. On amazon.co.za it's R1813 and that's with free shipping. Still cheaper than Takealot full price though.

Noticed that products sold and fulfilled by Amazon is free delivery and next day sometimes which is really cool if it all works.

R70 delivery for non Amazon sold products.

Although not much deals or cheaper. I hope as time go by they'll add more deals or give out a voucher here and there

This confirms what I suspected. Their pricing will be local pricing, plus whatever markup the local resellers want to tack on.

Takealot just need to drop their reseller **** and then they can easily compete with Amazon.

Yeha main thing for me is that I can ship to client directly, I dont have to ship to takealot Dc with all there silly stickers required.
