Amazon.co.za - stock expansion?

Region free was generally for the dvd side, as my Samsung is "region" free for dvd not blu ray.
Though region free bluray would be cool.

Region free bluray players do exist, a per the earlier link.

These guys also sell them: https://www.bombayelectronics.com/

My Pioneer plays all regions, you just have to type in a key combo on the remote. It's not 4K BD capable though as I got it about 10 years ago.

But what one can also do is use a BD burner, eg USB such as the ones sold by Pioneer or SATA connected ones, such as this one: https://www.wootware.co.za/pioneer-internal-16x-bdr-211ebk-ultra-hd-blu-ray-bd-writer.html
and you can then have region free Bluray playback using the free "demo" bluray player software available online such as
Here is their Windows software: https://macblurayplayer.com/how-to-play-a-bluray-disc-on-windows.htm

You can also rip your 4K BD or standard BD, but you will need a BD drive capable of 4K BD reading.
MakeMKV rips all BDs and is free.
I bought a license years ago, but it will also work on the free version.

Yup I saw so, I did say it would be nice to have a real one, my Samsung is only region free with a code and only for DVDs. But I don't have any Region A anyway.

Cool. Just that Region A (USA / Japan) has a wider selection of movies, if you're into that and I think the prices may sometimes be cheaper.

But ripping BDs is probably the way to go and then playing the back on your home theater and big a$$ TV from some sort of player or via Plex or whatever people use nowadays.

I Think a lot of the disappointment stems from the fact that they (Amazon) are just another marketplace, like Takealot. As far as I can tell they don't sell anything themselves directly. So essentially they are just a shopfront for other suppliers / vendors. These are mostly the same suppliers / vendors that sell on Takealot, so very little to differentiate the two.

They do sell things directly. Just select Amazon.co.za as the seller.

Over 4000 in stock items in computers.

They've also added some Amazon basics products to their range the last couple of months.

Alas no SA on the list for Prime Day :cautious: :(

Amazon Prime Day is coming back, here's when

Amazon's recurring deal bonanza known as Prime Day is coming back, unsurprisingly, and this year will take place in July. The retailer has for some reason refrained from giving us the actual dates - yes, plural, as despite the name Prime Day is usually two days - but at least it has given us a list of countries and territories where deals will be had.

So, here goes: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the US, and the UK. Also, for the first time ever, Amazon Prime members in Ireland will get their very own Prime Day deals.

As the name implies, the deals on Prime Day are only available to those who subscribe to Amazon Prime. The retailer says there will be "deep discounts" across more than 35 product categories including electronics, kitchen, beauty, and apparel.

Last year's Prime Day event saw Amazon hitting record-breaking sales, which is the whole point of this entire thing after all - Prime Day events are held when sales are usually low, as a way to bump them up, and it works.

So a silly example, but I've been looking at adjustable dumbbells recently.

Big players being names like:

Eisenlink
Ironmaster
Rep
Powerblock

None of which are sold in SA.

Amazon.co.za weirdly stocks the UPGRADE cage (for additional weight) for the Powerblocks - but not the Powerblocks themselves.

WHY would you stock the extension kit for product for a product, you a) don't carry in region b) nobody else does.

It's just dumb and not particularly well thought out in terms of stock they carry/don't...

I see amazon.co.za has Winter Deal Days corresponding to Prime Day overseas (8-11 July)
