Hi

I already own a roku 3 and using it in my bedroom.
Since I have already cancelled my DSTV subscription I now need to get an additional streaming device for the entertainment room.

I was looking at the Fire TV. Any one using the the device and how does it compare to the Roku 3?
Is 220 VAC supported.

I basically use Plex, Netflix, Huluplus on my Roku.
Is it possible to get Amazon Prime Video here in SA, and if so, is the subscription worth it?

@abubolt: Have you had a look at the MXIII android media player from AVSupply in Cape Town (~R1200-00)? It is much more flexible than the Fire TV as it runs standard android and not a customised version like the Fire TV. The standard android Netflix and Hulu Plus apps do not currently support resolutions above 480p but there are many other free services available that have much more recent content in any case. I currently use mine to watch Netflix, the FREE Hulu for android (need to pay for this on Roku), Hulu Plus, XBMC (1channel, ProjectFreeTV, Navi-X, IceFilms, IPTV (300+ channels like BBC1, 2, Sky Sports etc)) YouTube, multiple web browsers (standard browser, Dolphin, Puffin, Flashfox etc.), instant torrent services like time4popcorn, 4K capable media player for playing back downloaded files etc. etc. It also comes with Plex installed although I have not tested this myself. Another big plus is the excellent warranty and support, particularly if you live in Cape Town.

Here is one customer's comparison between the FireTV and the Tronsmart Vega S89 if that's of any interest ...

Take a look at these YouTube Videos of the MXIII and the Probox2 Ex (same motherboard with a slightly different configuration 16GB flash, external antenna etc.) to see if it meets your requirements ...

Thanks for the info, will have a look at this

Fire TV is great, does everything that the Roku does. Maybe more.

I have an Amazon Prime membership, I believe that it is worth it.

Still haven't figured out how to set the DNS on the FireTV, still do it on the router. Anyone know how ?
