Hey guys!

Quick question ouens- where is the cheapest place to get an amazon kindle, or the kindle fire?

If there is a better alternative to the kindle im also willing to hear it?

I think getting it directly from amazon will be a few buck cheaper than the current specials from Makro and Incredible Erection. Amazon delivers very quickly.

EDIT: Get the kindle fire from Amazon. IC and Makro does not stock those.

That^

Except for the touch models and the fire. Neither of those have been launched in south africa yet, so theyre not available through the standard channels.
You can get them from Wantitall and Takealot for about R500 more than you would be paying directly from Amazon.

The fire is a really nice device, and well priced for a tablet but be aware that since its not lauched in SA you cannot use the Amazon Store (or the Android store for that matter). You an use Getjar for free apps tho.

Amazon does not ship the Fire to SA yet, your only option is to buy through another company stateside, or some other grey source. Best is to order a Kindle direct from Amazon, if a valid warranty is of any importance to you.

Ad-supported ones are "grey market" here, as I stated earlier if that's not a concern to you then it's okay to go that route.

Friend of mine just bought the Fire through Amazon today.... yeah, it finally allows local delivery now.

Because of exchange rate fluctuations, the Kindle Keyboard (the version which has been around for a while, with free 3G for life) is actually cheaper at Makro (R1999 if you can actually still find this offer at any of their stores; it was still advertised a week or so ago) than buying from Amazon, which a BB member reported last week cost R2150 all in with freight etc.

The Incredible Deception price for the same model is of course just silly: R2499. As is its price for the US$109 Kindle 4 WiFi (i.e. without Touch or 3G): R1499.

To the OP - just note that the Kindle Fire and the standard Kindle devices are totally different beasts. The standard Kindles are e-readers (use e-ink) whereas the Kindle Fire is a relatively low spec Android tablet.
