Amazon looking for data centre engineers in South Africa

Amazon currently has 40 permanent job openings in South Africa, predominantly in software development, operations, IT, and support engineering for its cloud business, Amazon Web Services.

The US tech giant has retrenched over 30,000 people in several rounds over the last year, including cuts in its e-commerce, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and human resources divisions.

Microsoft Azure is making major inroads into corporates locally though...because its cheaper, but we need some competition right.

Given a choose between Amazon and Microsoft, I still choose the street.
Then you likely choose relative poverty.

All the people I know at Microsoft have been there 20+ years. They are all dollar millionaires many times over. Microsoft’s median employee tenure is 5.3 years, which is very long.

It’s fun to beat up on the big boys, but they get a lot of things right, which is how they get to where they are.

Yeah.. MS strikes me as a decent employer actually.

Everyone I know who is there has been there for a long time.

Kwl story bros. Always people you know, never the ones yourself.

Luckily the ones "you know" are not part of the lay offs. Right.

The big boys know how to just get lay offs right.
