Amazon on SA hiring spree

wonder if they still use the Lucas tower in the hiring process,
same test the Ape in planet of the Apes was tested on,

also they had a Human sized version at their stand at Rage the one year, and they kind of mentioned to me
the dude that did well at it got hired.

any indications for salary ranges for engineers?

There are about 100 salaries on Levels.fyi.

The top one looks like they may have used their current RSU value rather than their grant value. Also note the dates on the sample on the left. Values should be up a bit now. The bottom image is from the 5th page.

Looks like entry level is around R750k/y, and senior is around R2m/y.

Those levels seem a touch high for entry relative to other industry roles, or is that the Amazon strategy for juniors?

The top one os definitely off that sde 2 is higher than 3, but $130k (R2.3m) for sde3 seems decent in SA...

That's probably their strategy. $43k is roughly 1/3rd of what a new hire gets in the US (Amazon seems to be following a rough 1:3 ration for SA vs USA). Most of those roles will probably require a degree and a tougher than usual bar.

Yeah, the others look ok, and are probably a bit higher now. One thing to notice is that there are no samples above SDE III and very few South Africans ever get to principal (at least in SA).

Amazon is a minimum wage employer, something this country desperately needs is more slave labor jobs. *Sarcasm alert*

ja rather sit on the side of the road at R0 pay because you won't work for the minimum wage

cut your nose to spite your face
