So i recently took a trial membership for Amazon Prime, this was because i wanted to check the Amazon Streaming service on my Roku 3.

Last night i received an sms from my bank stating R883 was debited from Amazon. So i logged into my account, and it was confirmed that the yearly $79 membership fee went off my card. Amazon being in US, was a battle to get on the phone, so i went with the online chat option. I spoke to someone named Sai. I explained to her what happened, she confirmed the deduction as i did not cancel my Prime membership and it automatically updates. I explained to her it was my bad as i did not know i should cancel it and she cancelled the membership for me and reversed the payment.

So if any of you guys get into this kind of situation, log into your Amazon account and go with the online chat option, it's much faster and they very helpful in resolving your issues.

How was it otherwise? How does it differ to Netflix / Hulu?

I find that live chat is a great tool, however it depends on the company you're dealing with.

Another good example would be AfriHost. Got a few issues resolved quickly.

A bad one would be DionWired. Their website is horrible faulty, yet they kept on trying to troubleshoot my internet connection. Eventually I couldn't hold up my politeness, said someone needs to check their website for problems and not my internet, and left.

I also tried the trial membership but they do clearly state that you must cancel if you don't want to continue.

Netflix and Hulu with Usenet are enough for me, if I was living in the States I would definitely get a prime membership for the other perks.

I was very new to all this, got my Roku in December and really didn't have a cooking clue about the streaming thing and memberships and stuff... so i opted for trials on everything (Hulu+ and Netflix and Unotelly)... and didn't read their T&C also... but at least they sent me an email when they trial account was up... here i completely forgot about Amazon... lesson learned none the less...

The content on prime is nice, but most of what they have i have already watched, or got the copy somewhere on my HD... mostly Netflix and Hulu+ gets used, so pointless spending another +-R80 a month on something i wont use

Amazon chat is helpful with all issues :)
Bet you could ask them for financial or medical advice and they would put you through to the right department :D

Probably a billing issue. Amazon refunds really quickly - great company to deal with
