Amazon unveils new tablets with live video helpdesk

For an e-reader I don't need colour or HD. Had a Kindle that broke, at the time the Kobo Glo came out and was a LOT better price wise. All you need to do is to learn how to sideload books with Calibre. Kindle too is geared towards their own offerings, as stated in the article.

Apparently these tablets from amazon are awesome - best 7 inch tab on the market - reviews saying it knocks the iPad mini and galaxy series off their pedestals from a screen quality, speed and price perspective - wonder if well get it here.

Should have had a 10" version instead of 8.9"

10" is a bit bulky. 8.9 is a much more portable size, and at that resolution, you still have the same screen real estate anyway (if not more).
Also, I think you get a better aspect ratio for reading (in portrait) at 8.9 vs 10, but I'm too lazy to double check.

Pricing on that entry-level 7" looks fantastic.
