Came across the following:
At Take2 and at Jump (which seems to link to Take2)
the specs on the chip give Level 1 as 2x128k and a level 2 as 2x1mb,
Yet/but at
Buy computers and prophecy, it gives the specs as level 1 2x128k and level 2 as 2x512kb
Now i do know that the 939 4400+ had a level 2 of 2 x1mb, but i was under the impression that the AM2 range did away with the level 2 , 1mb in the 4400+ cpu's

anybody know which is which?

There are 2 4400+ AMD CPU's

the old one was a 2x1MB 2.2ghz processor using 85W (Windsor core)

the new one is a 2x512k 2.3Ghz processor using only 65W (Brisbane Core)

Forget about those CPU's, best bang for buck is at 4800+ (2.5Ghz)

If you still want 2x 1Mb cores then you will have to go up to the 5200+ (2.6ghz 65W) or the 5600+ (2.8ghz 85W)

I would prefer the 65W models, I like the fact that the CPU's run at nearly Room temperature :)

Is that room temp for Dragons or humans? tend to like things a bit toasty - nothing like getting warm on a cold day... svch as today in fact

lol, when it gets cold in my room i just start encoding dvds or get Prime95 going

rather nice with the one computer below my desk warming my legs :p

other one's a c2d, and is pretty much useless for warming anything up :o

I can certainly concur with room temperature, I intially thought the MB sensor was wrong. Mine rarly goes over 20 with stock cooling.

Thanks for the headups on the 2x1mb or 2x512kb. I always wondered about that making a difference.

tongue...? if it hurts, it might be hotter than say... 50 degrees?
