Considering that AMD prices this Opteron 2350 under the Xeon 5345, AMD has an attractive price/performance offering for most applications. The only exception is a chess engine and highly optimized Intel binaries. Although our testing is not finished yet, there is very little doubt that AMD's newest chip is very energy efficient. Add to that the fact that the AMD platform is not burdened with the extra power consumption of FB-DIMMs, and it is clear that the third generation of Opterons will lead in the performance/watt area for a few months. When you are looking for the highest performance however, Intel has still a solid advantage with it's 3 GHz Xeon x5365

there is no result BECAUSE THERE IS NO CPU

You misread the review. Even though they stated "A "Simulated 2.6GHz" AMD quad-core would beat the best Intel Xeon by 42%, or so we were told back in March at CeBIT.", they actually review the Dual Opteron 2350 2GHz.

This is their test machine.

"Opteron 2350 Server: ASUS KFSN4-DRE
Dual Opteron 2350 2GHz
Asus KFSN4DRE BIOS version 1001.02 (8/28/2007) - NVIDIA nForce Pro 2200 chipset
8GB (4x2GB) Crucial Registered DDR2-667 CL5 ECC
NIC: Broadcom BCM5721"

Thank you :D

your link is dead? or broken or naive
again show me cpu review with an actual cpu plz

i can show u any socket with any cpu, dont mean its an amd barcelona

plz show me a test with an amd barcelona?

not some bs with with simulation of one

i can simulate the next quadcore:

it kicks amd by 20000000000000000000000000000000000% but its a simulation so is it real?

"Luckily, today is the launch of AMD's third generation Opterons. It's only at 2GHz right now, but it's packed with many clever tricks to improve the number of instructions per cycle (IPC). There's also a surprise in store: 2.5GHz samples are already in the AnandTech lab, and they will be available to everyone in the fourth quarter. So there is a chance we still are going to experience an old fashioned breakneck race; a heated battle of epic proportions between AMD and Intel for the top spot in the server market. However, this will only occur if AMD's newest quad-core is able to outperform the Intel alternatives clock for clock by a decent margin. Read on to see whether AMD has been able to pull that one off..."

Looks like they have one to me. Where do you get this simulation cr#p.

THIS IS A TEST WITH ACTUAL CPUS, NOT A SIMULATION!! I don't know how many times I have to say it. If you actually read the article then you would understand that. Your bias is blinding you.

Your bias is blinding you.

Oh, and just so you understand, they have the Intel firmly in the lead for the Integer benchmark which is probably the most important. What is interesting is that the AMD scales much better. I would love to see an 8 processor box to see how that compares.

soz okes had a bit to much to drink should not have posted

i just cannot understand why they cannot benchmark this against an intel if they have an actual cpu

im not bias, i loved amd for a long time and i am holding off buying a quadcore to see what they do, but they are making it hard for me with all this BS

just release the cpu and some benchies because im fed up with waiting to see if their quadcore is better

in theory 4 cores not talking on the fsb should be faster, but will it be

core 2 had benchmarks long before they where released :(

It won't be long now.. btw that techwarelabs site always has problems loading for me. Are they benching a real phenom processor or another barcelona server chip?

I don't think many people here are interested in server performance.

Server chips arent that different from the desktop ones, a lot of those PC enthusiast Americans were buying Opterons before the Core 2 Duo came out. you can get a good idea of the desktop performance from them...
