AMD needs to catch a wake up...

These things take time and work in cycles. Remember how long AMD kicked Intels but before. I just buy whats best at the time. If AMD gets something good off the production line in 2yrs time I will switch again.

Very true. Word is 2 weeks and i5 goes to market. Still going to get my PhenomII 955, but my luck it'll be in the next 2 weeks before something arrives from Intel.

Get the 955BE. Apart from clock speed they're the same thing. :) Well, here's to hoping the 955BE comes tumbling down in less than 2 weeks.

I still run socket A machine. It's done good. Not worth selling it, so it's going to become some sort of home server. Good for another 5-6 years. :)

And the bragging rights that you have AMD's fastest ever factory chip lol.:D That sounds extremely vain but hey, if the 955 drops and the 965 doesn't, it's a done deal!

I have a old 2GHz Celeron, same situation but not enough storage. Will probably be passed down to the little cousin.

Ja, that's true. If you were willing to pay money for the current 955BE and now the 965BE is the same price, then no brainer on that one.

I've never handed a PC down or sold one on. Get good parts at the time of purchase and one is bound to last for a long time.

Yip, I know about the storage issue. Have 6 drives right now, but old motherboard only had 2 SATA ports. Machine has a SATA card, but it only handle SATA 1. Had to get another SATA2 card just to run the 1TB Hitachi.

Not really. A 955 performs like a i7 920. Yes a new architecture wontle be nice, but it's not bad.

Well, I'm getting myself a 955. :)
Colleague is also in the market for a new machine to do VMs on. Think I'll get her an i7 of sorts and see how it goes. Then again, all needs to be in R4999 to beat some arb Makro special blah blah blah, so I don't think I'll see one in person anytime soon. :D

The Celeron was actually an old rig I got free from work. People thought it was busted, I swapped the PSU, it booted. So I don't really have a problem letting it go.

Sounds like a lot of duck hunting!

Yeah when one starts chucking expansion cards at a machine then it's a sign to upgrade. :D

Eh? I need to get new price lists then 'cos that's just about the same price as the distributors I use.

I've never used pc int before. Their prices look real good. There's stuff on there that Frontosa charge more for. Is pc int an actual importer?

I think they just pick these things up on the side of the road. Lol... but seriously I'm not too sure myself as I haven't used them before either. Their prices are awesome though!
