Hi there,

Today I got my AMD Phenom II X6 1055T CPU. My motherboard is an Asus M2N68-VM (AM2/AM2+/AM3). So I take out my old CPU, put in the new one etc. I then try turn on my PC. The LED's and fans come on but no display comes out. So I put in my old CPU again and it boots perfectly.

So I come on to the net and see that a BIOS update is in order. So I download and update. So now I put in my new CPU again and same problem. Just wont boot. So no I come online again to check the compatibility and see that what I thought I had seen (my motherboard) was actually the M2N68-AM which is compatible with the CPU and not mine

Is there ANYTHING I can do to get my new CPU to work on my current motherboard?

If the motherboard does not support the CPU there is nothing U can do to get the motherboard to support it. You have 2 options:

1) Return the CPU and get a CPU that is supported by your motherboard or
2) Upgrade your motherboard to a motherboard that does support the CPU.

I'm gonna have to go for a new Mobo :(
Any idea where to get one for fairly cheap that also take DDR2?

I have an m3n78-vm, that will support your cpu I think. You should be able to get it for very cheap. I even saw the same one on PH 2ndhand for 300 the other day.

Thanks guys... Im going with the Asus M4A785-M. At R750 it is a great price and a great motherboard! Gonna go pick it up a bit later.

that's pretty reasonable. Which model? did you import or buy locally? Sorry to take things off topic, I just happen to be looking to buy an x6.

AMD Phenom II X6 1055T - 2.8Ghz, 9MB Cache. I bought it locally from Frontosa IT. They are a supplier though :D

Bought that same chip and had a problem with when installing windows it would just BSOD. Updated my BIOS and it worked.

Bought the Sapphire mobo for R1200 at Frontosa and the CHIP for R1700, also from Frontosa.

Must say, this chip is really a very good deal for the price it comes from!

I also got my stuff from Frontosa.

Well everything is installed and the chip flies! iTunes opens instantly :D A video that previously took me 18 minutes to render to me 3 :D

Sorry for ressing old thread. How on earth did you update the bios? Buddy bought one of these MB's and we couldn't get it right. Boot into FreeDos, run the batch file and nothing. Did you use their USB option and did you have to set any special bios settings?

Refer to the manufacturers manual that came with the mobo, if you no longer have it you can get it online.

No point in guessing.

In the BIOS there might be an option called USB Legacy Support, USB Legacy Storage Support, USB Hard-Drive emulation, etc. Enable all such options.

Next up, turn the computer on with the flash already inserted, then use Asus EazyFlash (or whatever it's called, Asus's BIOS flash tool integrated into the BIOS). There should be shortcut key to access it, but it is also usually accessible directly from POST information screen (Or full-screen logo screen). Don't flash from Windows.

Failing that you can do the following:

Download: http://www.msu-hb.de/download/boot98se.exe
Then follow this guide: http://www.bootdisk.com/pendrive.htm

I suggest method 2
