AMD price drop

No it wouldn't, but I have no need for such speed and I'm missing the AMD platform. I don't like dealing with FSB and its effects on performance. On AMD platform I never worry about HT speed.

Yea E6420 isn't released officially but I got engineering sample some time ago, and its a very nice processor. its much faster then normal E6400 and I can bench at 3.9GHz, but operate 24/7 at 3.5GHz. Still puts in better performance than E6300/6400 at 3.6~3.8GHz

As for AMD, I'm really stoked about the 6000+ and I can't wait.

Probably my next upgrade will be a 6000+ or better. 2K for a top end CPU is a killer price and prices can only drop from here on out. Im still happy with my 3200+:)

cant wait i thought you would have the chip already shock g

how come do you get cpu's before most ppl in the entire world?

ive not even seen tomshardward with a cpu but you one how come?

It's complicated. All my CPUs are engineering samples...
I have organized to get the 6000+ to me within the next week or so...
Under some good water cooling it should have really low operating temps and maybe even clock to 3.2GHz with no change in Voltage or a little.

I'm really stoked about this CPU, I can finally get good bandwidth from my DDR1066 RAM.
My FX62 is always at 3GHz with no change in Voltage at all and my mem bandwidth is great...

why is complicated man :)

just tell us who you work for and why your hiding it so much

something fishy about this thing grrrrrrrrrrrrrr
UNDERCOVER SPY ON THE FORUMS AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH run for your lives

/me runs for his life

/me returns after having run for his life

/me recovers his breath

I agree, I'd also like to know where you get these parts for so cheap. It's not like you signed a declaration of secrecy or anything ;)

I'm not a spy just an enthusiast that's all.
I'd rather not buy it if possible. Maybe swop for E6420...

lol i bought the 4400+ x2 (AM1) for R3 500 a year ago, which at the time was nearly a R1 000 cheaper than you would pay for it locally.

I want to buy a 6000+, but that would mean a new motherboard and RAM as well :(

Tell me about it, to get a similar spec machine to what i have now but with dual core would cost me R600 for a Biostar motherboard (its overclockable), R1200 for 2GB of 667MHz RAM and then the R710 for the 3600+ which I would want to overclock too 2.6...

:(

Maybe if I sell my soul... :D

Hopefully the prices will drop even further, then I might be able to afford it! If only Corsair would drop the prices of their gaming RAM then I could afford it right now, but that doesn't seem about to happen. :(

And I'd go for a top of the range motherboard as well. That's one thing I never want to compromise on, a good motherboard!

I'm not saying that it isn't good enough, I don't even know it's specs. ;)

Expensiveness an expensive motherboard make. Lots of cool features, stability and good overclocking a good motherboard make. :)

Which is why I say I go for top of the range motherboards, since they usually have these three aspects. If a middle/lower range motherboard can offer these, I'd happily save the extra few bucks and go for that :)

Which is why I love AMD-based motherboards, all of these aspects for about half the price :D
