In a nutshell, it seems the price is the only issue. Absolutely insane for AMD to price it on par with a 2080, which is better in almost all games.

Probably due to the cost of it.
It's rumored AMD released the card as they were expecting Nvidia to launch much better cards than this and they would need something to compete.
Navi should be a lot more interesting.

The one big concern is the rush to market, the unoptimised driver seems to be the issue in most cases. Yes, the price is also a issue and the availability another.

Navi is going to be mid range. AMD already suggested that and NVidia is standing ready with the 1660/1660Ti.
