I like your analogy AMD lost me as a customer when they refused to honour the warranty on a duff processor. Burnt my a$$ it did. It's going to take a lot to get me back, not that they give a flying....

Only once bought an AMD as an upgrade choice, AMD Athlon64 3800+ single core. Sadly I should have stayed with my Intel P4 Prescott HT 3GHz. Now my 2 years old Intel Core2Quad Q6600 still seems to do the job. AMD never.. Intel forever!

Another thing to remember about AMD is that they go the extra mile to ensure you have an upgrade path in most cases. intel more frequently rolls out new sockets or LGAs and in the past new chipsets and that often means you have to replace your motherboard (and more) each time you do a chip upgrade. This is not only more expensive but creates unnecessary e-waste and production carbon footprints to make the sheer amount of platform intel requires.
A good example of this is the new AM3 CPUs being able to run on old AM2/AM2+ motherboards VS intel with LGA775 Core2 and the two platforms for the i3/i5/i7/i9.

Roux you would buy AMD even if the cpu cost twice as much and performed 50% less, you are a fanboy so stop trying to justify why and just say i will buy amd no matter what because i am a fanboy .

I'd buy a Via CPU even though it under performs compared to an AMD. I am not so much an AMD fanboy as I am an intel hater - with good reason if you read that factual post I made sometime ago.
