AMD Server mobos?

Hi,

Anyone know where I could pick up *dual* processor AMD Opteron motherboard? Yes, duel processor. I'm after 4 Cores.

Onboard Video would be nice, but as little as possible other onboard equipment, and I require as much as possible PCIe slots (2 or more, 16x preferred).

Rectron / Sahara / etc only sell Intel server boards (at INSANE prices), thanks to our friends at Mustek... So, is going to HP or importing my only bet, or is there actually a supplier that would carry such a thing in this g*d forsaken country of ours!!!

ask for a supermicro h8dce (or similar, depending what they carry), which is a dual opteron skt940 mobo, with dual pci-e x16 slots and other goodies. can do sli if needed (not that i think you are after that)

I built a rather nifty gaming rig out of one and two opteron 285 cpu's a few months ago, very nice piece of kit. used registered ddr though, but has 8 slots, 4 slots per cpu socket.

hint: h8dae has onboard ati rage if that is what you are after...but speak to the blokes at pinnacle.

Pinnacle sells them?? Will definately have a look then.

Yeah, I know it's not cheap too :) 4K to 5K just for a mobo, plust 4K odd per processor, plus your ram... It adds up quickly...
 
savage, you can also try Cyberdyne. They usually have stuff like that (Tyan) i think. Might not have stock, but you can always find out. Also give Frontosa a try. They also have server stuff on their pricelist.
 
Well Cyberdyne really only has 1 dual proc opteron on their price list. Not badly priced either (R2900 of memory serves me right). But the lack of slots (2 x PICe) on that board puts me way off it unfortunately. More than R7K per Opteron processor will definately see me NOT buying those at Cyberdyne though, that price is quite frankly just insane!

Still waiting to get prices / see what's available from Pinnacle, dont have a clue about Frontosa unfortunately.
